I fucking hate found footage movies but The Borderlands was easily the best version of the concept I've seen. Full of subtle visual scares and strange things which really ramp up the tension if you're paying attention.
Bone Tomahawk is just so ominous all of the way through. The deliberate slow pace and style just makes the characters journey so foreboding and the script is brilliant.
If Kill List was in the last five years then definitely watch that too.

I'm a huge fan of Lake Mungo but I get why people would find it boring. Its a real slow burner that can take longer than the movie itself for you to really get the full pleasure of it.
It has an amazing scene near the end though.
