Why was this piece of shit so bad, after First Contact racked in the dollyroos and looked intensely better on screen whereas this looked direct-to-DVD?

If I remember right, they deliberately tried to make another Star Trek 4 style movie, but it ended up coming across more like an extended tv-grade story
>>
>The only way to study or replicate this radiation is by blowing up the planet

Fucking stupid, the planet was a giant fountain of youth that healed everything already in a time where warp travel is shown to be fucking free.

Have it as a universal health resort administered by the federation where people who are terminally ill or don't want to die, can stay there for a few days or weeks or whatever. It's a whole fucking planet, that only has one village that's occupied and takes up less then a square kilometer.

It's also shown in this culture in the future that no one even fucking fears death or aging anymore... so what was the big fucking deal ?

Riker and Frasier are having a coffee in ten forward when in comes deanna to join them, riker and deanna throw a witty barb at each other about either one's promiscuity, then frasier tells deanna about the recital in the holodeck later that evening, to ask if he could get him some nice chocolates to bring his date, dr crusher. then in comes picard and joins them for coffee, and picard tells frasier hell be using the holodeck for his baseball game with his best bud benny. they get in a little argument about it and picard goes off in a huff about not feeling welcome in his own ship. cue to act 2 in which frasier tries to get to crusher's quarters to escort her on his date but is constantly waylaid by ensign roh, who he had a brief relationship with previously, and who he is now trying to juggle a quick date with because he had forgotten he had already made plans with her on the same day to visit the arboretum. cue the back and forth hijinks of frasier thinking he can pull both off one after the other even though crusher keeps showing up early to see if they can maybe get some dinner before the recital. it all blows up in frasier's face when deanna shows up with the chocolates labelled for crusher and roh thinks theyre for her. as frasier begs her not to dump him in the hallways crusher hears all of it and he hilariously finds himself like the dog without a bone. cue credits, in which we see spot batting at the chocolates in frasier's apartment as if they were a toy.
genius.

All of the TNG movies are shit, but I thought Insurrection was better than Nemesis.

Generations and First Contact are better though. First Contact at least has some decent action and Generations is surprisingly comfy.

Insurrection felt like an episode of TNG, which is a good thing. As a movie, it was still shit, but at least there's something positive I can say about it. I literally can't think of anything positive to say about Nemesis.

>>
>>63637788
>Nothing about this is a flaw with the finished product.
It is a flaw with the finished product. Having that kind of attitude on set creates stress and the actors have little morale for the scenes. Therefore the performance is tainted.
>Nothing wrong with this.
None of the TNG movies and even the previous TMP movies had nothing to do with Earth, they where character based stories. Reusing the same clichés of scifi assured the story to be flat.
>He was great, misused how?
Yeah he was, but the part had little to no characterization. He's evil because he hated Romulans therefore he wants to destroy Earth. Why? Shit motives are shit.

She does not deserve to wear that uniform.

Picard was a relic from an earlier age. He believed peace had a place in the galaxy.

Death by committee.

Nobody liked Michael Piller's original idea, but instead of scrapping it they just tried to make little changes which just turned it into a mess.

It's funny that there's like an internal memo that saw a lot of the film's problems (that the audience won't care about the Baku or even feel they're being selfish) but they never got changed.

>"Concur. This is a youthful crew running around on a weird planet planet while strange things try and capture/kill them. Beyond seems like it could be plopped right into the second season."

Underrated Insaneway moment:
In 'Child's Play' she uses everything they have and risks Voyager so she can save a Borg vessel and sentence an entire civilization to die at the hands of the Borg.

Three new movies and with everyone its one step below.

Meanwhile Star Wars focuses on the tone of the old movies and get praised for that far beyond its release.

First Contact looked nice but fails as a Trek movie because everybody is consistently out of character. It was very much a foreshadowing of the JJ era.
Insurrection was the closest a TNG movie ever came to capturing the spirit of the show.
It's just a shame it was so poorly and cheaply executed.

Story on this?

I think paramount intentionally sabotaged it to ruin the TNG film franchise

they couldn't exactly reboot if they were still First Contact tier..

Can't find the other sources for Patrick Stewart though.

They should have asked Sony, they rebooted the shit out of Spider Man for no reason.
