My favorite movie commentary is the one they made for Brotherhood of the Wolf. It's just the two main actors making fun of the movie the whole time.
Update: the Alpha Papa commentary is alright, passable.

It honestly was, Rocky IV is a worse retread of III, Rocky V had something new to say
>>63608446
That sounds hot. I'd maybe even pop it in my mouth
>>63609080
iv is far from a retread of iii and rocky v having something new to say is the dumbest fucking thing i've heard. i really want you to go more into it.
>>63609301
IV is literally III again without the novelty of creed and rocky teaming up.
Drago is a blander Clubber Lang, Apollo dying was a lazier way of getting the same reaction out of rocky/the audience as Mick, the characterization was thrown out in favor of three montages and a fight halfway through the film.
I could see this being a favorite rocky film as a kid, but in terms of character and emotion, iv was the low point.
It was a fun, cheesy 80's movie, but thats all it will ever be.
Rocky V finally got back to focusing on the characters, the idea of an over the hill boxer living vicariously through a younger boxer that he is training is interesting to me, especially how it gets between him and his family. Seeing rocky out of such wealth and with more of his old characterization made him easier to root for. Sure, the son and Tommy could have been better developed, but as it is it's a solid entry, if a bit different

Why would you explicitly exclude stuff like Titanic, but then Hunger Games 2: ESSEBTIAL for criticism of film. And stuff like Killer Condom.
>>63602748
Enjoyed most of what I've seen so far. I changed lowered my rating of The Imposter half a star, but I've pretty much only been seeing good stuff lately. I think The Virgin Spring is the best Bergman I've seen in a while -- I'm glad to not see one of his films where all the characters have to levy acerbic diatribes at each other constantly. This one wasn't preachy, either, or too "big question"-heavy. Really recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Does Amaranth intentionally avoid watching mainstream films in an attempt to seem sophisticated? Apart from Letter Never Sent her favourite films are either mediocre or just plain bad. It seems like she purposefully searches for the most obscure films and pretends to like them.

It's got a lot of Christian themes in it, the whole message I got from it was that you need to retain faith in God throughout hard times in life. As an agnostic I felt like the whole movie was incredibly obnoxious and arrogant. Visually it was absolutely beautiful. On par with Koyaanisqatsi for nature shots. Maybe I need to watch it again, but I think my views on religion as a whole prohibits me from finding any real value in the whole movie as it's so heavily focusing on faith.

Very complicated cases. Most references I've found point to Dekalog and Berlin to be TV series, and Three Colors to be three separate films, but it does bother me. I don't think the Three Colors were ever shown on TV (I mean of course someone bought the rights to do so eventually but you know what I mean), while Dekalog was always intended as a TV production even though they all debuted in festivals prior to that debut.

Do you hate it because it's currently popular on /lbg/? If you watched it and didn't like it, why?

me again
i'll admit i'm a pleb in terms of not seeing classic movies. i took two film classes where i watched a "classic" every day, but my professors taste wasn't exactly alligned with what most consider essential. been on letterboxd for about 2 months now and have seen more movies in the past 2 months than in the previous 3 years or so
here's the past few weeks, with a big gap during finals

Nice work friend. I hope you get nice and cozy on the couch and enjoy your winter break with non-stop watching.

>>63656196
Not quite correct there comrade. Diversity is the key here indeed, but only the kind of diversity we like, the kind that suits our interest. That's the Letterboxd motto!
>>63654799
i've given five stars to a lot of movies, just not the ones on that list. also, ratings are up to each person.
for me, five stars means it's one of my favorites of all time. 4.5 means near-perfect/classic.
What up?
