GotG is an utterly generic space fantasy movie
It doesn't bring anything new to the table, and its own themes are muddled. It's plot is a retread of other Marvel movies (Alien terrorists attack Asgard/New York/Nova homeworld).

I've re-watched both Avengers and GotG multiple times. 3-4 times with full run through and up to 10 times skipping some parts. I have fun each time I watch it again as well which is why I do it. If I wanted to go and "think", I go and carry on reading some Isaiah Berlin or something on my bookshelf than watch a movie,.
