What do you think about his Arthurian film?
It's literally the only film of his I haven't seen.

You should, he takes his elliptical style to a new level, even including suggestive sound snippets like the horses neighing and the armor clanking all the time. And I thought he might have been influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood style in some of the shot compositions and color.I also think Monty Python were influenced by this film in Holy Grail.

>I also think Monty Python were influenced by this film in Holy Grail.
It's been proven to be a coincidence. The production dates were too close together or something.
Mate, your bumps are embarrassing me. It's /tv/.

Such a great filmmaker. What are some other essential French filmmakers from pre-New Wave that are essential?
Im thinking like:
Renoir
Becker
Tati
Carne (only seen Children of Paradise)
Who else?
Every time someone watches a Bresson film an angel loses its wings.

Cocteau
Epstein
Vigo
The Trial of Joan of Arc is my favourite Bresson I've seen. Best Joan movie; better than Dreyer and Rivette's versions.
