I suspect a determined effort by director Gherman to make the worst film ever and have fools rave about it - this reminds me of the 1910 Boronali hoax.

I have watched my share of art films that take their time, gaze at their navel, suffer from all kinds of flaws, but all had redeeming qualities or were worth getting through for a splendid last scene. This is not the case. This film is like the "Find the fish" segment in Monty Python's The meaning of life, if it had been extended to three hours, directed by Woody Allen's blind character in Hollywood ending and edited by a mad Terry Gilliam under carte blanche form the studio. No sentence makes sense. No one ever answers a question, which is irrelevant because not one question makes sense. Every minute of this film could be shuffled around and no context would be missed. Every one of the hundreds of meaningless character who crosses the field right against the lens is obsessed with shoving: someone is always shoving someone else. Even the hens who appear at a point seem flummoxed by the utter insanity going on.

And of course, a close-up of a donkey's phallus. How daring.

There are involuntary brilliant moments: for instance when, despite everyone's indifference to the constant rain of urine and feces which spares none, indoors or out, for the entire film, a character exclaims: "hey, don't piss on my boots !"

To summarize: the incessant occurrences of people willingly eating excrement and smelling dirty boots in this film is a blunt metaphor for us watching it. Hats off to M. Gherman for a qualified success.

2014 :^)

A film in which the oblique is rivaled only by the visceral. An abandonment of formal dramaturgy gives way to a hallucinatory fever dream where documentary-style intimacy elicits a Brechtian estrangement: the camera meanders through scenes as a God-figure onto itself, while others peer directly into its lens in acknowledgement of its omnipresence. Each element of the mise-en-scène is clouded in a primordial miasma, rendering the viewing experience a visual feast of the grotesque.

The Better Angels is a laughable Malick-approved Malick rip-off.

Is that based on that book about a space race guy infiltrating a medieval society?

I played the video game, it was nice.

But you did in your non-sincere answer. Does being riled up in so much irony cause memory loss?
>>
>>63576262
The point of a trigger warning is that it goes before the triggering material. Has watching reddit shit made you this dumb?

TRIGGER WARNING

Is being an atheist and materialist Marxist the reason why you dismiss Christian filmmakers like Tarkovsky and Malick?

you realize bazin was one of Godard's biggest inspirations?
did you throw away you'd Bergman Criterion blu rays when you found out he was atheist?

Which ones? All his religious movies deal more with the ambiguity of faith, rather than any complete rejection or acceptance. Like this guy said >>63576844, Bergman's movies are usually agnostic. But they still carry a strong Christian existential element not unlike the films of Malick and Tarkovsky, the latter even praising Bergman as one of the few of his contemporaries who made great movies.
