You could easily escape with no injuries as well by using the ladder to slow your fall even if you couldn't climb down it. I admit I could be off base on this, but thinking back I can't seem to recall any Captain Robertson appearance that would contradict the notion that he was overall a genuinely good person. Based on the shows themes and his association with terrible people (specifically Barrow and Showalter), I had a natural negative association with his character and didn't think much of him. The speech to Opal last episode coupled with his perceived indignation and hurt at being accused of crimes he didn't commit by his daughter make me think he's an actually honest person. Well executed and particularly brutal twists are this show's signature, and discovering Robertson is someone we should have been championing all along just as he gets swallowed up by Hell would fit perfectly.
Man I love this show it definitely needs more recognition. Costume and set design, soundtrack, directing, cinematography and characters are all top notch.
Cleary, Bertie and Edwards are my favs especially. And I'm glad those twins at least got a happy ending.

The buildup to Gallengers cheap shot was so good. You could really tell Edwards has reached his limit with with him, and physically reprimanding him was his only recourse left. The shot of him calmly getting ready for a fight was so good.
