I don't think the ending was supposed to be a twist. It was building up to that the entire time.
This movie would have worked better as a video game.

- The police in the universe this movie takes place in
Ilikedit. It was an iteresting watch if anything. And the ghost designs were pretty great, exceltionally spooky and the father's death was especially hard to watch.
