>>
For a show about hunting, they really do their absolute best to not show a single dead animal. I'm also pretty bored by the lack of anything remotely surprising, the whole show is 95% shitty meme animals we've all seen a million times before.

>>63530033
Pretty sure that's a shot from the end of an episode where they just show the bear running towards it and cut away.
>>
>>63530062
>>63530033

That's the whole thing, they never show the rest.

it had good elements but I felt it was weaker than previous recent Attenborough series

+amazing camerawork, probably the best to date (although this is to be expected)
+showed both sides of the hunt, i.e. prey escaping or fighting off the predator
+having different habitats in each episode made it less of a clusterfuck

-music was often completely inappropriate and sounded like some guy had took Danny Elfman scores and just changed a few notes
-could have been more unusual animals chosen
-the script was pretty repetitive and just felt cliched

>>

I liked that one video of the leopards that capture a baby antelope alive and unharmed and play with it for about an hour before they finally decide to eat it. Just nudging, innocently swatting the little animal, and then casually ripping out its jugular without even a small change in the leopard's demeanor. It almost feels like this interaction between a predator and its food provides some great insight into the nature of life.
>>

Literally this. I have no idea how they managed to get it so wrong given their track record of doing well in the past. It honestly made me cringe at times.

Attracts prey. Makes it seem like it might be food. It's not.

They show the transparent fucking squid, with the edges of its tentacles glowing. It uses them as bait and moves them around like a fisherman would.

The moment anything touches them, it's over.

The first visual record of the long-arm squid dates back to September 1988. The crew of the submersible Nautile encountered a long-armed squid off the coast of northern Brazil, 10°42.91′N 40°53.43′W, at a depth of 4,735 metres (15,535 ft)

The appendages were also held perpendicular to the body, creating the appearance of strange "elbows". Most remarkable was the length of the elastic tentacles, which has been estimated at stretching up to 15–20 times the mantle length. Estimates based on video evidence put the total length of the largest specimens at 8 metres (26 ft) or more.[8]

Orcas are absolute cunts. There's footage somewhere of them throwing a baby seal in the air for like ten minutes just for laughs.
>>
>>63534949

Well their primary strategy for hunting is to roll up on the shore and be like "hey baby, wanna come play with us?" and the seal's like "Cool!" and then the rape happens.

No it isn't. Pretty much every major piece in the show is a composite of at least 2 hunts. The aerial shots for the dog chase were filmed after, there would be no way to get decent closeups if it was all one hunt.

>>
>>63546650
Both replies to you are wrong. The animal saw the cameraman and assumed they are fellow predators trying to steal its food.

The jaguar is going to sit on that caribou, defending it until it feels safe enough to feast, then it will.
>>
>>63534820
Holy fuck
>>
>>63547812
Really? Because I heard four different explanation so far with your counting, the first one I heard is that the panther didn't eat it because it didn't run away. For some animals if something runs away then it's prey but because the baby didn't run away then the panther got confused.

>Stoats are real

I thought they were just a redwall invention

>>
>>63547895
It's possible the jaguar thought something was wrong with the baby because the mother left it. Maybe it was thinking about going after the mother because it's the bigger meal.

Eating leaves you vulnerable and there are plenty of animals who live to steal other animal's prey. The jaguar is just making sure the area is safe before he eats. This is the more likely explanation.

Whales are literally just bigger dolphins. Do you not know what orcas are?

Intelligence in animals isn't a good fucking thing, unless they're small and pretty stupid anyway.
Look at chimps, and they go around murdering and eating other tribes.

Corvids and jumping spiders are the only decent animals with intellect.

If you're not British, get the Hola extension, set it to UK and go to this link. It's at around 41 minutes in, after the sequence itself is done they do a 10 minute behind the scenes explaining how they did it.

I love showing liberals videos of animals killing each other mercilessly
>>

that is always been their argument though, animals do it without mercy but humanity adds cruelty.

this is literally how liberals view nature. we're all like "survival of the fittest are scary, science and technology will save us bro", while conservatives would rather modern society was more based on survival of the fittest because you can't imagine what that would entail in practice.
>>
>>63550794

You can't interfere man, it's just nature, you know how crushed I was as a kid when they'd film baby turtles emerging from a clutch and every motherfucker on the beach is going after them? Crabs, seagulls, the works, and then they still gotta survive everything else in the fucking ocean before they mature.

They do it to survive, i.e. food supply. If you kill other humans and don't eat them, you're just a huge prick instead of a huge prick that's hungry.
