You're not the only one. Warren Beatty as Bill would've been perfect as the bad guy James Bond type he was originally imagined. There was supposed to be a big action shootout setpiece in a Casino involving ala The House of Blue Leaves in Vol. 2 but it wasn't meant to be.
Ultimately I thought Carradine was a great Bill. They could've done more but I think keeping a character mysterious instead of showing how much of a badass fighter/swordsman in every scene is better.
