I was in high school when Phantom Menace came out. I was pretty excited until I saw Jake Lloyd's face in one of the commercials.
It hit me as so, so wrong for two reasons. One, Kid Vader is a dumb idea. This isn't Muppet Babies. I don't need to know what Vader was doing as a six year old.
Second, Jake Lloyd is a shitty, annoying child actor that can't act. He was an annoying little cunt in Jingle All The Way that ruined every scene he was in. Thing is, Jingle All The Way wasn't the part of a beloved movie franchise.
The Weird Al song also grated on my fucking nerves. I like Weird Al, but it was just such an unfunny song that seemed to keep playing everywhere because Phantom Menace.
Clones and Sith were okay. They had shitty moments in them, but I dunno, some of the stupid shit in those films has grown on me. Jake Lloyd will never not be an annoying little cunt, and whenever I see tragedy befall him in the news, I'm a little happier, like his failures as an adult are a phantom penance for the Phantom Menace.

On the reddit site, you have a name and identity tied to you, people will know who you are and who posted what. On the other hand, the inherently flawed voting system censors discussion. Having an identity to you means you have to worry about your 'reputation'. You might not always have the audacity to be completely honest. And if/when you do, there's a strong chance that you will be downvoted and silenced for it, if you go too far against the pre-established community view on something, or if you aren't PC enough.
Reddit types often lack complete freedom of expression. So when they feel they need it, they come here to get it. However, this comes at a price of people not knowing how much of a special snowflake they really are, so then they go back to reddit when they need to get themselves upboated and have their egos stroked. But when the voting system doesn't always suit them, then they come right back here.
It's a vicious cycle. Redditors will always misuse anonymity because they cannot fully live by it. 4chan is only a means to an end, a way to hide and post their shlock and wait for a semi-interesting or original thing to pop up, for which they may then take it to reddit and circlejerk over it and get upboated for bringing it over. Because everyone knows that it's impossible for reddit itself to come up with original content.
These two sided people (read: weasels) trying to have the best of both worlds, trying to have their cake and eat it too, are truly terrible, and the reason why we cannot have nice things nowadays.

This is partially true, but not completely.
The voting system really can silence unpopular viewpoints, but it mostly applies to posts and not users. Unless you have a celebrity account or are a prolific user in a small community, people will not remember who you are and you will not have a reputation. People call the OP "the OP" and not redditor69; sometimes someone may take a look at your post history or karma, but that happens very rarely. Also, making a new account is extremely easy, it doesn't even require shit like email confirmation. So yeah, when it comes to user reputation, Reddit is not really that different from this place.
