I wouldn't say this anon hasn't seen the show. Scully can seem like she's completely unopen to the paranormal even when she's experienced it, but what she's really doing is making sure she's as positive as she can be that its truly a paranormal occurrence. I had this misconception when I was first watching through the show, but eventually you can see that she clearly believes, she just also believes in her duty as a scientist to prove and disprove without jumping to conclusions. If you miss this development of character, she straight up explains it late in the series.
