As long as Seth "Seth Rogen" Rogen isn't involved then alright let's do it
>>
the book is really well written, and the escapades detailed within are gold. If at least some of the madness is even partially translated, it will be worth a look.
I guess they get to show all the shit like rebuilding a set that was just pulled apart for a single shot of a nonessential scene
>>
>>63467793
This.

It's like making a Sci-Fi movie with no mention of space
>>
>>63467793
This would be a stupid idea for any other movie, but it works for the Room IMO. There's an almost mythical quality ro everything that Tommy Wiseau does, which makes him a great movie subject.

I really enjoyed the book and I think a movie of it has the potential to be great but James Franco is directing and everything he's done is shit
Makes me kind of sad knowing we wont see the movie the book deserves, I suppose there's a possibility he could make a good movie once.
>>
>>63467620
the only thing that bothers me is Dave's casting. It doesn't make sense to hire your brother who looks a lot like you to play a character that your character isn't related to. Plus there's always the fact that Dave isn't a great actor, is a manlett, and sounds and looks nothing like Greg Sestero.
>>
>The most Reddit tier garbage normie actors/director trying to make something that is only funny because it really happened into a scripted comedy

This is literally a 0/10 idea and anyone who is excited about this needs to leave the board.

Tommy Wisseau is funny because he's the real deal, watching James Franco (of all fucking people...) pretending to be Tommy Wisseau will be Saturday Night Live-core garbage Reddit throw up humor
>>
>>63467620
I'm excited but don't expect anything good. Disaster Artist is a great book and I don't see how it can be adapted for a typical screenplay.

1. Zac Effron isn't shit but I doubt he'll never manage the heights of the Chris R scene. That guy really had good acting in that one scene
2. Chris R is not a manlet

It would have been hilarious if they got the original guy back

It's going to be worse than The Room.
>>
>>63467620
why
>>
>>63467620
No. You can already tell this will be a "Franco and pals" movie. They are gonna miss the feel of the book. Like it or not Tommy ends up like a very complex guy according to Sestero, and the situation scales from something very small to a descent into madness.
>>
Franco will ruin it

Spring Breakers would have been much better without him

He's a disappointment in every cinema he's in.
>>
Franco doesn't "get" the room. He ruins everything he touches.

Why? It's not like they can make it funnier than it already was.
>>

They really just should have cast Riff Raff

Gucci Mane was in the movie too, but the producer probably felt the need for someone famous to put on a poster
>>

Disaster Artist was one of the most funny books I've ever read. Wiseau is so bizarre it's stranger than fiction. There's no way they are going to do the book justice.

I honestly can't even imagine someone trying to play Tommy Wiseau straight. I just can't picture it how it could be done.
>>
Is it so hard to make something original? Fuck this shit.
>>
>>63472624
Tommy is a man with self-esteem problems who pretends he doesn't have them, he's self conscious about his looks, his accents and his background. He plays it all off by changing subject when ever things get too close. play it like that, the surrealism of the story doesn't need additional jokes, its already funny in a tragic terrifying way
>>
>>63472281

>>
>>63472905
When your a rapper, you probably didn't think to get a business email. You also probably signed up for alot of mundane shit. So now you got 100+ emails of crap, and people assume (since thats the email you put out into the world) that that's your business email, the email to reach you the fastest, so they send their important shit (most likely not marked important) in the pile of other shit.
>>
>>63467793
If it was any other movie than The Room id agree.
But it kinda fits.
>>
The Room is great because it was a flash in the pan, total accident of the universe.

Why the FUCK would I want to watch these spoiled Hollywood brats role play something genuine? This sounds like a truly awful project.

Basically this film is only being created because The Room is popular on the Internet. So it's Franco, a filthy rich Jewish man-child, pushing his nose into something he has no genuine connection to for the sake of making money.'

>>
>>63473227
No. The Room was good because Tommy was serious about it.

The book captured the tragic nature of it all, this movie will miss it, exactly as everything that Tommy made after The Room missed it too.
>>
>>63476371
this 2bh famalams
Tommy genuinely wanted to make the best film
while Franco is doing all this ironically
>>
I'm actually pretty hype.

For making this a Hollywood production, their casting's been pretty great so far. I was skeptical on the Francos doing their nepotism thing, but with makeup it looks servicable. Josh Hutcherson was genius casting, and if they couldn't get Dan back Zac Efron's a decent runner-up.

Now the real question: Will they nail that opening scene in The Palm?
>>
I don't like it. It's just trying to make something funny out of something that was already funny to begin with.
>>
>>63476415
How many times does it have to be explained that this isnt a remake, its based off the book about the behind the scenes events.
>>
Casting his manlet little brother as Mark doesn't make too much sense

In the book I remember that the actor said he failed an audition for a hobbit in the lord of the rings because he was too tall

Is this a story about him like in the book or is it just a behind the scenes story of The Room

Dumbass.

I know The Room is one big joke and all but it seriously feels like this is Seth Rogen and James Franco fucking around making a vanity project. Shitsux but oh well not like you can get too mad over it.

I just want to see some of the key events
“Why sitting, not working?” Tommy
asked.
“Where’s the generator?” Graham
replied.
Tommy explained that he’d called
Graham’s generator people.
Unfortunately, they had no generator
available at this time.
Graham nodded. He looked exhausted
and frustrated—nothing like he had a
couple of weeks ago.
It was like
someone had replaced his young, happy
eyes with those of a miserable old
crone. Even his hairline looked less
robust. It was terribly depressing to be
confronted with this good man’s
emotional and physical degeneration.
He’d been such a fun, wry, amusing
person to have around the set at first. His
problem was that he wanted to make
something he was proud of
>>
>>63476994
This. Every single movie his team has made that past few years has been trash.
>>
>>63477624
Tommy looked around at Graham’s
loafing, glowering crew and said, “Why
is everyone sitting down? Let’s move it,
come on, let’s get going!”
“I need a generator,” Graham said,
still sitting. He was no longer looking at
Tommy. “This day, like all the others,
will be hell with no generator.”
Tommy stopped and fixed upon
Graham a long stare of intense
disapproval. “Well, I’m sorry.
Generator is not available at this time. I
cannot create it for you here. I can’t
make it out ofnothing.”
Again Graham nodded. “You never
called.”
“Oh yes I did call.”
“No, you didn’t. I called them, and
they never received a call from you.
They told me they had plenty available.
You’re a liar, Tommy.”
“No,” Tommy said. “You liar
yourself! We call. They say unavailable.
So do your job, okay?
>>
>>63477646
“Do my job.” Graham played with the
words as though they were little gobs of
dough and he was still deciding what to
make with them. “How about you do
your job?”
Tommy began to walk away.
Suddenly he turned around and pointed
his finger at Graham. “Listen to me,
young man! It’s not my problem. I need
to prepare for acting, okay? I don’t want
to hear your problem.”
Graham grabbed a paint towel from
the box at his feet and stood with
righteous fury. “Tommy,” he said.
Tommy turned and Graham marched up
to him and threw the paint towel at
Tommy’s feet. This was far more
dramatic than it sounds. It looked as
grave an insult as some seventeenthcentury Frenchman slapping another with
a white glove. He stuck his finger in
Tommy’s face. “You’re a fucking liar,
Tommy. You’re a fucking liar.”
Peter Anway heard the ruckus and
came out immediately.
“Don’t raise your voice on me!”
Tommy said, pointing his own finger in
Graham’s face.
Graham knocked it away. “You know
what? I fucking quit! You’re a fucking
liar, Tommy! I quit!” Graham turned and
stormed away. He motioned to his crew,
who all snapped into action as though
Graham were Toulon and they were his
puppets
>>
>>63477667
Tommy walked after Graham as he
and his crew left. “Keep going, you sissy
guy,” Tommy said. “You sissy faggot!
Keep going! Learn how to walk!”
Graham, to his credit, didn’t turn and
didn’t acknowledge Tommy’s insults.
He and his crew were gone quickly
>>
If nothing else, it will move a few thousand more copies of the book, so more people get to enjoy it.
>>
>>63477692
this is the second crew that abandons the film, from memory
>>
>>63477708

>>

Hi Tommy.
>>
>>63478209
I'm sure Greg got the OK to write the book from Tommy.
He wasn't going to risk upsetting him.
>>
>>63478311
Tommy loves milking his fame.
>>
>>63478290
Oh, hiya Mark
>>
>>63478262
Tommy repeatedly told him to not reveal even minute details about his life, so Greg went and related his entire lifestory in print for everyone to see.
Book would have been much better if it didn't have that element to it so when you give it some thought you realise Greg is an absolutely horrible friend.
>>
>>63478348
Hi Tommy
>>
>>63478406
Good one cunny funt but you can't deny that it's a total dick move and the book wouldn't have suffered one bit without it.
>>
>>63478348
Are you missing how Greg repeatedly talks about how much he likes Tommy and thinks he's a good person who's had an impressive life. Even revealing details about his life isn't really that bad. By doing that, he turned a person who is usually regarded as a complete weirdo into an actual person. Because of Greg, Tommy isn't just a joke anymore.
>>
>>63478446
Tommy literally goes from the weirdo rich guy making a shit ass movie out of vanity, to a god damn proof of the american dream because of greg you fuck. without all the details of Tommy's life the whole book would just be Greg going "hey i know this weirdo, let me write a book about how weird he is"
>>
James Franco is a fucking hack
>>
I'm worried they're going to make this into a straight up comedy. Disaster Artist was funny, but in the end it was really about Greg and Tommy's unlikely friendship. It's just as touching as it is funny.
