These connections propelled him to the Ivy League, and from there he was repeatedly taken in by various interest groups who saw in him a useful puppet for filling their own goals. This is how most politicians rise through the ranks. The Bushes are all like that too, they are born to an old well connected family and then various sponsors, lobbyists, and assorted remoras put them into office so they can use them to advance their interests. It's been that way for ages and it's only frustrating in Obama's case because for some reason people want to believe he's different. He isn't. ISIS(Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) refers to the territory they actually control, while ISIL(Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) refers to the larger region they wish to conquer, including Israel and Palestine.
