I shamelessly love this movie and I think it's a Christmas classic. My family owns the VHS and we've watched it a hundred times since I was a kid.

I just watched it again last year and the only scene that fails is the drunken deer fight (though redeemed by Arnie). Jake Lloyd is still a terrible actor and the drama is hamfisted but holy fuck, is the rest of it still great. Here's some shit you obviously didn't appreciate:
