the show is red-pilled on women
-Lois admits that she was fucked by four men at the same time
-Kitty acknowledged her nature and once she understood that she has no longer the means to sustain her hedonism and histrionism, she went back to her husband
-all men are complete betas
-the various gf of malcolm and reese are just waiting to be sluts
-other girls in the show are callous and just want to hurt other girls
-staceys want to make their QB bfs puke in kissing reese

The only gripe I have with the show is that the ranch owners fired Francis. They basically worshiped him. He could have bankrupted the entire ranch and they'd still love him.

Francis got shafted in season 7, his episodes and appearances pretty much sucked apart from the AA meeting one.
>>

Yeah, he has health issues and had to stop acting for a while, he died a couple of years later. That's also why the Francis/Otto parts were almost non-existent by the end of season 5.
The justification they gave in the show was pretty shit though.

They made Malcolm relatable, despite being a major genius

He's never shown as "the mature smart one" or even "the voice of reason" - he's a kid/teenager and acts like one

It also helps that unlike other shitty fucking shows with "smart" people e.g. big bang theory Malcolm being smart and saying smart stuff is never the entire joke - how people react to what he says is the joke, whether it's Reese becoming frightened when he learns that the Earth is spinning and flying at hundreds of miles per hour around the sun, or Dewey twisting Malcolm's own "smart explanation" against him

There are no jokes that are simply "I'm playing Mario 64 on a bad emulator", the jokes ultimately boil down to the fact that despite being a genius, Malcolm is still human, and a teenager, and he is far from perfect (but that's ok because life is unfair)
>>
>>63442564

I don't think they wanted to make a S8 anyway, Malcolm moved to Harvard so his parts would probably be boring. Malcolm doing shitty jobs, Malcolm being a beta male trying to date girls...basically a re-enactment of the previous seasons except that he's not with his parents to punish him.
Dewey/Jamie and Hal/Lois would be similar to what we had in early seasons with Malcolm, Reese and Dewey.
For Francis, I don't know. They improvised him a good job just for the finale, so he doesn't end as a loser.
Reese as a janny in high school had some fun potential though. They could have shown his tribulations with students, his ex-teachers, the stuff he could do to piss off people (since he has access to all the garbage in school). They could also focus on Craig since they moved together.

>They made Malcolm relatable, despite being a major genius

That's what I like. I you show some episodes to someone who has no previous knowledge of the series, they would probably think he's a normal child. In some episodes he's even pretty stupid. That makes him a good character because he has a personality that isn't just "being smart and saying nerdy things" (unlike big bang theory). He's very good at school but that's never the entire focus of the show, he's growing up, learning how life is.

It also helps that the show offers a good contrast between Malcolm, a smart character, and his family, who is basically of average intellect (and Reese who is a complete idiot). They are normal people, they watch TV, they have jobs, Hal enjoys playing poker and drinking martinis, Lois plays her role as a mother, etc., they have distinct personalities, strengths and weaknesses.
In TBBT anyone who isn't Sheldon and his friends is just a fucking retard and that's it.

Never understood why some people attempt to deny the drop in quality from the beginning on season 4 when the baby is introduced. The show lost a lot of its charm when Dewey grew older and became obnoxious. The same can be said for Reese and Francis, they ran out of ideas so had to develop unfunny, uncharacteristic storylines like Reese gets married etc. In show was probably one of the best sitcoms of all times from seasons 1-4, but by the time it ended it was a pale comparison of the early seasons

>it's a Hal goes berserk and makes a bee cannon robot episode
>>
>>63429177
>what went right?

Looking at this>>63429560, it was a number of things.

The acting of everyone in the series including little Dewey, when kids are usually the weakest cast member.

Secondly, the writing. Such as having a father who is willing to bribe his kids to take to a fall for some unspecified crime. Lots of other shows would have said what Hal did wrong, making it slightly less funny.

Third, little things like the fact they are clearly poor and the physical humor. I can't think of any comedy that would have an adult character pick up and drag off a child actor.

Fourth is something I just noticed. Look at the way the scene is shot. Late at night, dark brown color overall, the light sources, appearance of a tiny enclosed space. It gives it a sense of realism you don't get with other multi-cam comedies where things takes place in bedrooms the size of living-rooms and everything is white, clean, and pristine.

In the first seasons he was the middle between Dewey and Reese, because they were the only other two that lived at home. In later seasons he was the middle if you include Jamie and Francis.

I worked this out as a kid. It's not that hard.

That was an amazing ending. In a sitcom you'd expect some bullshit cop-out or a dumb emotional bit to wrap it up. But it worked so well with Hal's character that he saved the day by being a terrible employee, and the way it snapped Lois out of her psychotic episode was perfect for her character too.

Anyone know the name of the episode where Hal's taking care of the boys, and he ends up with a bunch of different 'personas' around the house telling him what to do (some of them are cowboys, or astronauts, etc.)

It culminates with him clasping his ears and yelling 'SHUT UP,' with the boys wondering why.

I've tried googling it a few times but could never figure out how to phrase it in order to get the answer.
>>
>>63447370
The one with the boys never passing the ball to Dewey, but then using him to grab it and promising he'll get to play and then continuing to never pass it to him

it's just so perfectly accurate in how brothers work, it stuck with me even if it isn't the funniest or most original

t-b-q-h-f-a-m The Middle could not be further from Malcolm in the Middle both in quality and content... no one would ever make a comparison between the two if they hadn't named that shit tier show what they did.

The Middle dad = shit tier and hasn't said one funny televised thing since he was The Janitor
Hal = God Tier

The Middle mom = Annoying unfunny lazy bitch who also has not done or said one funny thing over the course of the show.
Lois = God Tier

Little Kid from The Middle = Was cute for like 5 episodes before he started morphing into the certified nightmare fuel he is today.
Dewey = Autistic God Tier

They even could have redeemed themselves with the daughter but nope, hired 26 year old mongoloid

Reese: You did not. You just lied.

When you grow up, your parents are irrational yet somehow all-knowing and wise. For the better part of my youth, I considered them "just knowing what's best".

This show really introduced me to the concept that my parents are just as unknowing as I was at times. Hal and Lois had the "authoritarian parent", but were probably reasonable considering how bad the kids were. Yet it showed their weaknesses, their inability to handle certain situations.

The kids had great parents. Yes sure, the children were awful and they seem to lack a proper education, but what were Lois and Hal supposed to do about that?

Regardless of this, they did their best to offer them the best future they could have, despite coming from a poor family. Reese finally got a job (a shame he didn't end as a cook or something, but he seems happy as a janny), Francis had a good job too and Malcolm got to Harvard.

The world needs more moms (or dads) like Lois.
