Damn, the GR really creep me up. I feel really uneasy about the idea that people could just "snap" like that and not give a fuck anymore. I honestly couldn't get past S2's opener (after having seen S1).
The whole show just screams, "AW, YOU MAD BRO?????????? HAHA, FUCKING LOSER. HERE'S SOME SLIGHTLY COOL STUFF TO APPEAL TO THE PEOPLE WHO KEPT WATCHING." and then, rinse and repeat. Like, if 4chan were one of The Leftovers' production companies, there'd be a tagline at the end the says, "Baited for this exact response."
It's just....aggressively pretentious. And, more than anything, you truly have to believe the central conceit of the show in order to like it. Otherwise, it's just stupid people behaving like maniacs.

Just finished... god damn. Season 2 was overall better than season 1, but this season also went way more supernatural then I expected. If they do that too much then the mystery starts to loose that spice. I hope it gets a little more grounded next season, with a more emphasis back on humanity as a whole with events here and there like S01.
It probably will seeing as Kevin's schizo arc is over.

The format of Lost really required some concrete resolutions in terms to certain plots. It was like a punch in the balls for people that had endured years of vagueness in the hopes of some sort of payoff.

His math is correct. The show never suggested that hundreds of people disappeared nor that the town was too small to accommodate that many losses. If I can guess at all from a scene where they prepare their prank, it's maybe around a hundred, which would suggest a town population of around 5000, give or take some for randomness.
