So whats your opinion on collecting VHS/Beta ?
>>63418951
comfy but absolutely useless
Magnetic storage mediums are degraded by the earth's magnetic field and further degraded by the magnetic reading heads every time they're played.
You might as well try to collect milk.
Beta as fuck

>You might as well try to collect milk.
I wouldn't call it collecting, per se, but I save all of my milk when I spontaneously lactate. Think I might use it for a practical joke one day.
>>63419066
>collection dvds
>what is disc rot
>>63419120
you got me you son of a bitch!
VHS will be valuable in 10 years, especially rare titles. Expect commons to sell for $20+.
Don't get it. I understand collecting and digging for rare shit that never got DVD releases, things like that, but not just walking about buying a bunch of mainstream garbage.
cinephiles will soon claim that vhs produces the best picture, that the cracks and pops of low resolution are what the director intendended
>>63419284
for example?
pointless other than for sentimental home/family videos
>>63419231
Not exactly guaranteed.
burn everything and film it
>>63419411
Not him but Zombi and Maximum Overdrive are going for about $15 a piece at my local VHS store. VHS is still a huge thing in the Florida horror scene
>>63418951
It's all great if you use it to compile kickass electronic music
>>63419792
why would you want a vhs of a title that came out on dvd/bluray? except of the vhs copy is open matte/uncut, etc. that is not the case in both of these movies.
A first print of Shawshank Redemption will set you back $10.
>>63419893
It was easier for me to find a physical of both of those movies on VHS. I buy a lot of other stuff too because it's cheaper, I'd rather spend 5 cents on a VHS than $10 on a dvd
Laserdisk has artwork and there are versions not released on other formats so I understand that but VHS and Beta don't have any of that
>>63420254
ya cuz literally everything on vhs has been released on dvd...
>>63419396
>cracks and pops
they're pretty comfy though, its like rewatching the xfiles in hd. it looks great, but watching it on a crtv is a whole different thing on its own
>>63420367
I meant different edits and such but yeah getting those is p cool too
This tape is going for $125.00 on ebay.
>>63418951

I still have my VHS tapes of "Amazon Women on the Moon" and "Kentucky Fried Movie", though I haven't had a VCR since I don't when.
>>63419120
Is my CED collection valuable yet?
>>63420725
id imagine because traci lords is under 18 in that kino
>>63420725
That's not legal to sell or even own.
>>63420978
Well, it's more valuable then that tv tray, which I and everybody else in America also have...
There is an early 80's VHS cut of Apocalypse Now that has them call in the airstrike at the end and the whole place is in flames as the end credits run.

Riddle me this,Mr.Wizard.
>>63418951
If a vhs looks nice in a box, sign me up.
Pic related. DBZ had some nifty box sets.
