NEW HALF IN THE BAG

EPISODE 99: KRAMPUS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOGTeOpzr7A
>>
Why didn't they review any of the huge movies form the last few months?
>>
>>63411278

like what?
>>
>>63411338
The martian for one. I've been waiting for that review but there too busy beating off to the new star wars shit to get anything interesting one
>>
I love the Bryan Singer/little boys joke
>>
>>63411153
Krampus? More like Crapus.
>>
>>63411278
They ought to review Star Wars in 100th episode.
>>

>>
>>63411153

should i watch it?
>>

You like Gremlins?

Check this shit out.
>>
>>63411153
>star wars next

I am equally hyped for their review of star wars as I am for the star wars movie
>>
Pretty much impossible to take these guys seriously after the Landis videos. That's what happens when you sell your dignity.

What right do they have to criticize any aspect of Hollywood when they enable nepotism?
>>
>>63411692
How are they "enabling" anything? You sound pretty retarded desu

Also, it was your mistake to take them seriously in the first place. They don't even take themselves seriously.
>>
>>63411153
I feel like watching the movie now tbqh
>>
>>63411447

I'm still trying to figure out how it takes place in the same universe as Trick r' Treat as the filmmakers said. Didn't spot any references.
>>
>>63411153
They got it pretty spot on, but I was really hoping they'd discuss the neutral ending.

By the way, I loved it. The most terrifying Christmas Special you'll ever watch, it's great.
>>
>>63411692

it's funny because they address this in the "a conversation with max landis" video

"people always tell us how can you criticize all these movies as bad when you haven't done a good movie yourself yet?!!"
>>
>>63411692
except they didn't like Victor Frankenstein at all

or any of Max Landis's shit actually
>>
>>63411778
>"people always tell us how can you criticize all these movies as bad when you haven't done a good movie yourself yet?!!"

That's not what I said at all.
>>
>yfw Max Landis died on his climb down the mountains
>>
>>63411381
they already talked about the martian fuckboi
>>

>>
>>63411822
All they talked about is how they didn't review it.
>>
>>63411573
You this they will do a Plinkett review for the new Star Wars as well?
>>
>>63411764
I think it might be more in the general tone, "Holiday Spirits gon' fuck you up" type thing.

It's pretty good, it feels like a movie straight out of the 80's. Not a gory over the top horror film, but like something like Poltergeist or Gremlins. Spooky fun for the whole family, mostly practical effects, a great cast, and a lot of nods and homages to other horror films and Christmas films and shit good shit.

Bonus points for a funny Calvin and Hobbs reference too.

Fuck, which one? I think I missed it.

- Mike Stoklasa

What a fucking pleb.
>>
>>63412420
It's easy to call someone a pleb when you leave out the details of what they're saying. He said Academy Award material in technical categories like sound design.

It being his favorite movie of the year on a pure entertainment level is obviously subjective.

I think they started coming out in 2010, 11 years after the Phantom Menace. But they could definitely release one sooner.

The only problem with releasing one sooner is won't be as fleshed out, and it won't be after all the sequels have been released.

Look at his Avatar review. Only 20 minutes or so, which came out a year or two after Avatar. Versus his star wars reviews which are an hour a piece.
>>
>>63412785
The Avatar review came out while it was still in theaters. That's why it only uses trailer footage.

And yes, I'm aware of the upload date listed on their youtube page. A bunch of their older videos all have the same release date. This is because of a youtube glitch from several years ago.

It's a horrible monster with a twisted sense of humor that fucks people up if they don't treat the holiday with respect. Krampus and Sam are practically drinking buddies.

Why would you expect? Halloween decorations in the attic? Sam high-fiving Krampus? The movie ending with Michael Doherty walking on camera and announcing it within the movie so we all know that, yes, it's the same universe?

>>63415788
Yeah, it doesn't entirely fit the real Krampus (I would have liked its face to be more goat-like than Santa-like), but it really is pretty cozy. When it's not frantic or terrifying.

I think I remember when the blizzard knocks out the power, Omi gets them all hot chocolate. Reminded me of when an ice storm knocked out our power when I was a kid, our neighbors came over and we all sort of camped out together. Good comfy nostalgia.

The tone of movies and film changes over time.

Krampus is a call back to actiony/horror movies from the 80s.

In an effort to revitalize that nostalgia, the movie succeeds in every way. For what it's trying to accomplish, the reason the movie was made, it was a bulls-eye.

The RLM cast members regularly post on their own personal subreddit.

This means they are avid redditors. How can you possibly adore, fund, and worship fucking reddit scum?

proof?
I think only someone as faggy as Jack would be a redditor. Mike and Jay are too busy to be fucking around on that site

Mike and Jay took part in an AMA when Doc of the Dead was coming out but Mike only answered one question and Jay only answered 2 or 3. That was a few years ago and they haven't posted since, you whiny faggot.

I think Max Landis posts on 4chan. He contributed to that one /x/ project and will probably make a film of it some day.

I thought it was great. RLM really sum up the movie quite well. Don't go in expecting to see a gore fest. It's a great horror film for all ages, but it doesn't coddle the audience at all.

There's some very strange stuff in here. Like the true scale of the jack in the box demon caught me off guard. But yeah...i enjoyed the film

Worth a rewatch?

It seems to fit what they're talking about in this review, but I'm worried it will be disappointing as an adult.

As Jay said, he's "desensitized" now, and that makes horror films less fun.

RLM are the living embodiment of the smug, detached Gen-X ethos.

I'd venture to guess none of them has felt a single sincere conviction about anything since childhood. They exist as polyps upon the colon of culture, satiating themselves on the perceived failures of others (i.e. "The Man") while adding nothing new to the discourse aside from ironic complaint.

They're a group of insecure, lost, rapidly aging burnouts who silently believe they could do a better job of making films than the professionals in the industry. Yet they lack the ambition and ability to actually enter the very industry they're obsessed with. They choose instead to fuck around and make student film piss-takes well into middle age.

They are awful, awful people. I've met thousands just like them, and the last thing we need is for these people to gain any attention for their navel gazing.

Please, /tv/, do not aspire to become anything like these people. Theirs is a lonely road leading to depression and a life devoid of real purpose.

I hope they disappear and their disaffected followers stop subsidizing their lifestyle. Perhaps that would force them to do something productive with themselves.

Was kind of sad about the one in the latest episode because it's a top loader, those are old and I like them, but it was probably non-working based solely on the fact that it's a top loading VCR.

They're older than that. The Star Trek ones were from like 2007, and the Phantom menace ones were from 2008, I think.

Dude, I almost saw it twice myself. I meant to go see it with my brother-in-law, but he and my sister were decorating their house so that fell through and I was impatient. Later that same day we had a period where we were alone while she and our mom went shopping. We played some games but I was fully willing to say "Fuck it," and take him to go see Krampus. I really do think he'd love it.
