Now that the dust has, ummmm, settled, what did you guys think of Boyshood?
>>
>>63410899
It was really good up until he became a teenager and was obviously growing into a huge twat.
>>
I love it! Boy meets hood! It's a movie that really brings people together

Wow, I thought Linklater had such a strong grip of the narrative. If I was Iñárritu I wouldn't want to pick a fight with him.
>>
>>63410899
Epic in technical scale but breathlessly intimate in narrative scope, Boyhood is a sprawling investigation of the human condition.
>>
A tour de force
>>
they need to make a robot version of this where it follows an ugly troubled youth misanthrope through his miserable youth ending in his suicide at the age of 18

Love it, even without the 12 years thing I found myself really believing the characters were real people. Gimmick or no gimmick I think Linklater has a great grasp on compelling dialogue
>>
>>63410899
It didn't take 12 full years to make

It's plots are slices of life

So it has nothing special
>>
>>63411672
>So it has nothing special
besides the fact that it's good?
>>
>>63410939
I think it's when he turned 15 that I got fucking pissed at him. Up until then, besides the constant string of abusive fathers, he felt like a mirror version of me, right down to the age. Then, he turns into some hipster cockbag with "complex" emotional issues.

Also, I really love how it was basically just making a short film every year and stringing them together.

SOULJA BOY UP IN THAT OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH
>>
>>63411736
The scene where he was talking about how mindless Facebook is made me wanna puke
>>
>>63411395
Stop trying to force this shithead, it holds no context, or usage whatsoever. Nice try.

1st hour: Perfect in every way

3rd hour: Should've been cut and burned in a fire

You're not supposed to agree with what he's saying, it's a reflection of his teenage personality. When you're older you'll be able to look at him and feel nostalgia for when you were an idiot teen.

real dads who leave their family dont get redemption in the end. movie was bullshit; it's every manboy's fantasy.
>>
Boyhood took 12 years to make, so naturally it will take 12 years to fully review
>>
>>63411866
I think it should have ended after the grad party, or at least cut the grad party entirely and shown him moving in. Either way, too long.
>>
>>63411767
>mixed with a fucking metal song
They actually got that pretty accurate. Everyone was listening to that shit at the time myself included and metal covers on YouTube were all the fucking rage for some weird fucking reason.
>>
>>63410899
average flick for a faux-intellectual audience
>>
>>63412053
Yep. Should've shown him going to college and on the road rolled credits.
>>
>>63412117
Whats so "faux-intellecual" about the audience? Most critics praise it for it's simplicity and emotional
relatability
>>
>>63410899
Its a bad movie, the 12 years premise is fucking stupid. But I havent seen it yet

This is the kind of people that think Boyhood is a masterpiece
>>
>>63412117
Are you talking about birdman, edge of tomorrow or whiplash?
>>
>>63412085
It was the Travis Barker remix, and the ridiculous part was how it was juxtapositioned with domestic abuse.
>>
it felt realistic
And just like real life sometimes people grow up to be real douche hipsters
>>
>>63412362
That's one chink that thinks it's a masterpiece. Do i have to explain that it doesn't reflect on the rest of the people that like it? Are you autistic?

>>63412397
This. /tv/ doen't know how to watch movies. You're not supposed to self-insert and identify with every character.
>I don't like character
>Therefore the movie is shit and boring
>>
>>63412447
Yeah because I have to post a lot of videos and screencap comments on youtube or reddit that share similar euphoric opinions about the movie until you're satisfied, it's like almost no one think it's an epic deep movie right? fuck off
>>
>>63412630
I'm not even sure what you're talking about
>>
>>63412372
Hello???
>>
>>63411913
But he didn't leave the family, he was involved in his kids lives the whole time. He just stopped loving his wife. I'm guessing you're either a wannabe special snowflake who uses their parent's divorce as a sympathy crutch for anything you can, or an angry mum who constantly curses your father in front of your kids to get them to hate him even though it was equally your fault. Either way, drink bleach
>>
It was ok.

It was very unfocused and aimless, which I suppose is the point of it, but movies like that tend to work better when they're low on dialogue and exposition. This movie was aimless and loaded to the brim with exposition. It's like Primer without the time travel.

I liked Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette.

I thought the transition between different periods of his life was completely seamless, which I loved. It does a good job of replicating the real life sense of growing up without realizing it.
>>
>>63411009
Holy shit, the only on topic post in this thread. Kill yourself /tv/. You call yourselves memers you sons of a bitch?
>>
it was good because it felt like i was watching myself grow up. but then it got weird when he became and teenager and he was this scene fag who straightened his hair and pretended to be deep.

then with his mom and her helping that plumber guy which came out of no where and felt really out of place.
>>
>>63410939
>became a teenager and was obviously growing into a huge twat.
That's the point
>>
Did you know it took 12 years to make?
>>
High school girlfriend fucking a college guy hit too close to home.
>>
>>63411913
He didn't leave, you Oedipal dumbfuck. She divorced him.
>>
without its gimmick nobody would even mention it, it's just that mediocre
