I think I'm one of the few casual fans of this show. It seems like it gets either blown 95% of the time by people commenting on it, while the other 5% hates it outright. I enjoy pieces of the show, but I'm not completely sold on it. I think the strongest appeal, for me, is the complete disregard for answers or clarity on everything, but at the same time, it acts to keep the characters kind of muddied and not quite as interesting as they could be.
Still, underwhelming finale, wished it were a bit more exciting, and the whole chaotic mess Kevin woke up to was unearned IMO. Great acting work by everyone involved though. Nora was my favorite of season 1, but since they ruined her character this year by making her a glorified baby carrier, I'm rooting for Matt, his ex-vegetable, and their rape baby. And John's son seems like a bro.

After Lost, I'm numb to Lindelof's twist bullshit, so if this show continues to its natural conclusion as per the writers and something like that were the case, I wouldn't mind very much. Magic is anything that science can't explain, pretty much. If we found out there's a planet in our galaxy with aliens that can move shit with their minds, I wouldn't be surprised. We could find out a number of things about their biology and environment that would help us understand the mechanism behind what on Earth we'd call "magic".
I guess what I'm saying is I use "magic" to mean "the unexplainable" as in even if the show DID want to tell us what happened (which it won't) the answer won't be "tachyons did it" but rather something like aliens, or dimensional shifting, or genetic reawakening, or some such shit outside of IRL science.
Which is cool with me, I really don't give a shit how this all shakes out. Watching it fuck with audience expectations week to week is enough for me out of this show. If I want grounded and engaging plot, I'll watch Fargo.

My sister is a lot younger than me and never watched Lost. She's the one who suggested I check out this show. After I caught up over Thanksgiving, I asked her why she enjoyed it and she said "you don't know what's going to happen next" and I wanted to tell her she's just chasing the dragon but some lessons are best learned on your own. When I see Lindelof's name on a thing, my expectations are set as low as they go.
