I think it has to do with the whole forced diversity for the sake of diversity. You gotta understand that star wars has always been a white male centric fantasy, and when you have some blakc actor that not only looks like some caricature of a racist depiction of a black man, but appears to be the a main character and appears to get the white female, it just sits wrong with some people. As for me I think he's to ugly to be the main love interest, also because hollywood seems to like this black men and white women pairing, when statistically is tht eleast succesful interacial marriage in the states. This pairing has more than a 50 percent of ending in divorce second to asian man and white female. If hey wanted to add diversity why not other faces beside blacks, why not a latino and white women, considering thats who does the most interacial mariagges in the states, latinos and whites.
