Do you like the BIG and EPIC look of DC movies? Or do you prefer the neutral realistic cinematography of Marvel movies?

>realistic
Son, I got news for you.
>>63388156
>do you prefer the neutral realistic cinematography
You mean mundane and boring cinematography?
I prefer the one that isn't cinematically outdone by its Netflix shows.

Who does DC's cinematography? It's like they got some autist straight out film school trying to prove his worth
>>63388237
yes that's what I mean
>>63388322
Man of Steel cinematography was the same as the guy who did the Transformers movies.
Batman V Superman is done by the guy who did Watchmen's. It's very low lit yet with plenty of color.

I bet Joss really though this shot looked "epic" and "awesome"
>>63388381
when i watched the trailers i got a big watchmen feel, come to think of it.
i never enjoyed watchmen as a film, though.

They're both kind of shitty to be candid my blood relation.
Zack Snyder goes way too bombastic with his shit to the point where it flies right past epic and turns into parody of epic. He tries so hard to make everything look grand and mythic, and it always falls flat on its face because his stories are so pedestrian and can't meet the grandiose visuals. It's like a farce.
And there really isn't any "Marvel style" at all, the movies are so goddamn boring from a cinematography standpoint. There isn't a single shot I can remember from any of those movies that's not one of Whedon's cheesy "muh splash page" slow-mo action beats, and there are only like 2 of those per every Avengers movie. Everything is kind of blurred together from Marvel because it's all too same-y. The only movie that stood out was Guardians of the Galaxy, which was admittedly really charming and energetic, but had too much cringe-y humor to be "good".
The DC animated movies

I haven't been out in a while... real world is looking that greyish these days?
"Batman v. Superman" looks "cinematic" in the very heavy and outdated "00s" way (like Nolan's or Snyder's previous movies). Meanwhile Marvel's movies (especially "The Avengers", "Thor: The Dark World", "Ant-Man", the second and third "Captain America") were directed by TV directors (surely no coincidence here) and represent the first wave of "episodic" and fun blockbuster filmmaking directly influenced by television. Of course, fedora-wearing "film buffs" hate Marvel's aesthetics while ignoring their appeal of being (mostly) liberated of the heavy hand and flashy shallowness of the previous wave of blockbuster filmmaking of the 21st century. Marvel films have actual fun characters (like in a TV series), and people are excited to see them interact (and pay to see more), as opposed to, say, Bale's Batman, who is a complete non-character.

Are capeshit fans really this dumb? Or in the modern world, where opinion trumps fact, because they're now a majority, do definitions like epic and realism change to suit the times, and the minority is wrong no matter what?

It actually looks beter at the bottom
The CG doesn't look so fake at least
>>63388187
>gloss

Hello reddit!

How come the Iron Man suit looks worse than it did in 2008?
And I really hate that Downey now has the traction to get them to take his helmet off every 2 minutes.
>>63388187
flat lighting
basic uninteresting sky
glossy vfx that looks fake
>>63388187
needs more colors

The sides are incredibly thin to reduce weight, holding it like that where the weight is concentrated on two points would cause Superman's hands to puncture through it.

Anyone who uses the word cringe as a proper criticism literally belongs in the bin. What exactly is cringe worthy in GotG?
MMMMM i love it
