John Carter - Taylor Kitsch
The Lone Ranger - Armie Hammer

those mega flops did not out right kill their careers but it did chop them back down a few levels. I not sure anyone was really looking for them to carry the films alone but you're not the next Chris Pratt "on the rise" with out the box office numbers.

I wonder how the films would of done with the casts all flipped around? I think Armie might of done ok in Guardians of the Galaxy.. I don't think Taylor should even be in films, just stick to tv.
>>
>>63391974

he probably gets royalties from dvd ad blu-ray releases of his films. plus if he has any sense he invested most of the salaries he got when he was popular.
>>
>>63391912
>Waterworld was worse for Costner's career.

outside of people pointing at it and yelling flop it did not hurt him much at all. Guy has cranked out something like 20+ more films at a rate of a couple of movies a year..

That's steady work in studio level stuff. It's not like he was throw down to making Robot Lezbos Vs Zombie Goats level stuff that Asylum cranks out for SyFy network.

The Island of Dr. Moreau flat out killed Richard Stanley's up and coming directing career. Guy was the big new young unknown upstart after Hardware and Dust Devil. Ends up getting fired and banned off his big hollywood level break of Dr Moreau..

When they make a documentary decades later about how much a film killed your career you know it's bad.. It's on netflix and it's a pretty good watch. Covers how Brando was nuts, Val was a jack ass and even how the mini me like guy let the film go to his head.

James Wong created one of the most fun action movies ever (The One) as well as one of the most fun horror series (Final Destination). Then he made this and committed career suicide.

Can't say I've seen any of these actors in anything noteworthy since this either. I know Rossum is on that Shameless show, but I've never seen it.

A lot of people put a big emphasis on her being the worst part of Godzilla, even though the film would have been terrible even if she wasn't in it. She wasn't a terrible actress, it's just that the film wasn't the type of film where the script allowed the characters to be fully fleshed out. I liked her, she was cute, so it was sad to see her drop from the face of the earth after Godzilla.

it wasn't inkheart that ended his career, it was his inability to reinvent himself as his hairline retreated. he just never figured out how to embrace aging as other men have. yeah, it's more difficult if you're balding, and yes, that sucks that something so insignificant can have such an enormous affect on a career, but it isn't impossible.

if you're going bald, just own it. don't do comb-overs, don't do weird mid line parts to cover a retreating hairline, and don't let yourself get out of shape when you're balding, it's a one-two punch that you'll regret

If his alleged reputation of being a giant cunt didn't precede him, then he probably would've been forgiven a bomb...As it was, studios were probably looking for a reason and losing money in Hollywood is the only "legitimate" reason to black ball someone. I don't think Pluto Nash hurt Eddie at all outside of his pride. Guy has said before given where he is from you don't turn down a big pay check. Eddie has still cranked out films all over the place after Nash, making a ton of money.

that being said Norbit might of hurt his Oscar bid for Dreamgirls. I'm not sure he would of won anyways but Norbit being out when award season hit had to hurt his chances.

>he didn't even direct the movie and it killed his career?

Yeah watch the documentary about it if you want all the details. Basically breaking your contract is the kiss of death for Hollywood. Some of the actors also walked out too but they all came back. Fairuza Balk is interviewed saying how she wanted to leave the film but her agent told her she would never work in hollywood again if she broke a contract on a studio level film.

sort of like how The Canyons was the final nail in Lindsay Lohan's movie career. I Oh sure it was more her than the film but still. It was her last chance to show she could act like a working actor and at least show up on the set ready to go. She still screwed around like a teenager, ran away from the set and so on. The whole thing being documented by a reporter and that was it.

>Most of the Twilight saga cast

blah, even the most "who?" level actor off that set has spun off into doing some sort of other film. Nothing $$$$$$ Twilight level of course but still.

I could not even pick say "Kellan Lutz" out of police line up but looking at IMDB the guy has done tons of work since 2008: A Nightmare on Elm Street, A Warrior's Heart, Immortals, Java Heat, Syrup, The Legend of Hercules, The Expendables 3, 14+ ep run on a tv show, Experimenter and has 5 movie other project in the works now

even daddy vampire who is in his 40s now has put in steady work. Guys a regular on Supergirl right now AND he gets to go balls deep into Jaimie Alexander. Brendan Fraser would slaughter you and I in our sleep for a gig like that.

Goku clearly doesn't look white.
Most animated characters don't look like a 'race'
For example, the simpsons are yellow, but you clearly see them as white. They act white, and distinctions are made for asian and black characters

Simmilarly, in Japanese animation, it is made clear whenever a character is not asian. Whites typically have blonde hair and blue eyes, blacks are blacks.

This. The whole "anime characters are Americans" thing really comes from things like kabuki theater, where the actors routinely have silly colorful wigs - it's not because they're trying to make the character look Western, it's because it's more visually interesting. Animators picked up on that hard because they could now give a character white hair or blue hair and have it look natural.

Unless a character in an anime is pale-skinned, blue-eyed, blonde, named Matthew Perry Whiterson, sprinkling every sentence with poorly-accented English, and currently wearing the American flag on his head, probably assume he's Japanese.

Though I honestly don't get it. I didn't think the movie was that bad at all. Quite enjoyable in parts. Maybe because I watched it very casually slightly out of order?

>On a whim, Cody signed up for amateur night at a Minneapolis strip club called the Skyway Lounge.[11] Having enjoyed the experience, she eventually quit her day job to become a full-time feminist stripper.[14] Cody also spent time working peep shows at Sex World, a Minneapolis adult novelty and DVD store.[citation needed]
The fuck's a feminist stripper and why was Diablo Cody one?

I think he's referring to the actual on-set deaths that happened during filming. That and The Crow always pop up in these threads.

Came here to post this

Saw it for the first time last month, and I felt in love with it. The arquitect that talked in the projection before the movie started told us about how the big sets worked, and how much of a financial disaster it was.

Movie is already worthy of your time because of the whole restaurant scene.

You made me smile by posting this, anon
r the first time

Diablo Cody got insanely lucky with Juno. She has no talent other than that, just managed to strike gold once.

Guys, I want to see Cimino's Heavens Gate so bad, but I feel its more intelligent to wait it up.

In my city theres this cinema that projects all sorts of classics. They showed Lawrence Of Arabia last month, in fact (the 80s restored copy, in a big ass cinema screen with dobly atmos sound... i literally cried of how beautiful sight it was)

I know they have a copy, but theres no date of projection yet. So do I wait to see it on a big screen for the first time?

Everyone in Dragonball looks Chinese.
>>

>Fucking HOW?!

Dragonball is popular.

This doesn't look like Dragon ball.

And it looks super cheap.

Pretty easy actually.

If it was made for 100 million as a super hero film it would have done well.

Indeed it is, but people didn't realize it on that time and Kubrick only made two more flicks after that.
Reminds me this other masterpiece.

Sergio had a hard life
>Wanted badly to make OUATIA (since at least the year 1966)
>Studios wanted him to keep making westerns
>Had to comply and made 2 other movies (OUATITW and Duck, You Sucker)
>Was offered to direct The Godfather but declined because he wanted to focus on OUATIA
>Studied America and a lot of related stuff for 10 years, to be competent enough to make something accurate
>Finally managed to do his movie
>Took almost one year to film
>Turns out the studio completely butchered the movie because Americans can't watch a movie longer than 2 hours
>Critics panned the shitty cut
>Sergio was depressed, didn't give a fuck about his health anymore and ate like a pig
>A few years after, got back on track and decided to direct another movie, 900 days of Leningrad. Got a budget, De Niro, and Morricone for the music
>Died of a heart attack literally 2 days before signing the papers to make the movie

This is probably the best movie never made along Kubirck's Napoleon.
