British society is divided primarily by social class, not by race, i.e. all the posh cunts act and talk the same way regardless of their ethnicity, and all the chavs act and talk the same way regardless of their ethnicity. It's kind of a caste system and forms part of the absolute foundation of our culture stretching back to the Norman invasion, which gave us parliament, the justice system and the army amongst other things. The words for animals today came from the native folks at the time, e.g. "Sheep", "Cattle" etc., whereas the words for the meat are all of Norman origin e.g. "Mutton", "Lamb". This is because the ruling Normans mostly knew the animals as meat, while the oppressed native folks of the time (a mish-mash of different types) mostly knew them as the things they were raising for the rich to take away and eat whilst they ate disgusting grey bread and vegetables.
My point being that it really does feed into every aspect of the culture here in one way or another, far, far more than race does today.
