Ignoring that Superman can take anyone on the marvel side, they've got Martian Manhunter, Power Girl, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman who are all roughly around Superman's level as well. And then there's Flash who is a complete wild card. Depending on the writing he could defeat the entire Marvel side single handed with the exception of Hulk.
That said, I find Marvel heroes more interesting precisely because they're not as overpowered.

Flash is physics god, no reason he wouldn't take on the Hulk. That being said, you're right, even that Jekyll and Hyde ripoff is more interesting than the whole DC cast as far as characterization.
Though I believe Superman and Batman are really the only comic heroes one would ever need to know about, everything else is a spin off.

If rogue can get her hands on someone then she can solo.
If she can't then it's pretty one sided in favor of DC. Flash can take out everyone there except hulk and thor and maybe rogue depending on who she last stole from.
The only people worth anything on marvels side are hulk and thor. Both would be fought to a standstill against wonderwoman and superman.
