the visuals are the only thing im excited about with this movie.
the sets look good, the starships look good, the stormtroopers look good, and i can turn my brain off enough to enjoy a simplistic good vs evil flick for the strong star wars aesthetic alone. that's all i expect as a fan of the original trilogy, and thats more than i can say i got out of the prequels, which looked obnoxious.
im gonna cringe at the shoehorned old characters and the story will probably be bad, but the 12 year old kid in me is gonna have a hard-on for the starfighters and storm trooper armor and shit. can we really ask for more than that all things considered? i mean fuck it.

there are so many choices you can make with your revan which makes everyone's experience with the game different, and making anything about him or her "canon" takes that experience away from me.

If you are over 18, this film is not for you.
Over 18s expecting to see anything as memorable as the OT are deluding themselves. They are not children anymore, too much water has passed under then bridge for this to be, at best, anything other than an amiable time filler.
Under 18s will have seen it all before as sci-fi action flicks are all around us nowadays and won't hold the OT in as high regard as 70s and 80s kids - so don't expect them to go mad for it.
Parents taking their kids to the flicks expecting their kids to have as profound an experience as they did 30 years ago are also delusional.
Just look at the structure Di$ney have in place for the next 6+ years, to create a new franchise that they can wring every last shekel out of us all.
I am expecting this to be at best a 6/10 flick.
