Finally got around to watching V for Vendetta. Disregarding the whole "Anonymous" meme culture that it spawned, is this a good movie?

I'd agree with Alan Moore in that the comic was better.
In the movie, V was the good guy, with very little ambiguity. Almost all hints of anarchy was dropped, instead making him a more palatable freedom fighter while the government was almost cartoonishly evil. Not to mention the unneeded romance with the girl.
I get it's hollywood and they pretty much have to put that stuff in, but it does make the story worse.
It's not terrible, just not good. Mediocre all around.

I don't think its an intellectual movie. The V character is a total A-hole. Natalie portman plays a kek in the movie as she lets V degrade and enslave her. There is the weird scene where natalie is dressed for a pedo. It is gay propaganda for sure.
The anon culture is a bit seperate from the movie. The movie ignores a lot of real world conerns and turns into a violent wank-fest.
