A comedy show that stays true to its goal throughout its entire fucking running history.
Unlike other comedy shows that begin to breakdown when the main characters start to sleep with each other, break up, and sleep with the others (AKA F-R-I-E-N-D-S, sersiously, fuck friends), the status quo in relationship between the friends remains throuhout it all. One of the episodes even explores this and challenges other shows when they make 2 of the characters sleep with each other. They deny social convention and things go back to normal after hilarious jinks and situations. You will see quotes and moments that have been punned and copied to this day on other shows.
You will also be watching a show that never had a better series fanale in all of TV history. So fitting, so complete.
I've enjoyed other comedy shows, sure, but none has yet to stack up next to Seinfeld. Call it nostalgiafaggotry, called it jew-ness (i aint even jew and I find it hilarious, because he pokes fun at his own culture several times), but you should enjoy the show.

This is a good summary of why Seinfeld is timeless and remained a quality sitcom all the way through and why Friends was garbage that already seems extremely dated.
I loved the fact that the show never tried to force sentimentality on the audience. The main characters (and most of the people they interact with) are assholes and know it, but they're also usually in the right. They even make a joke about how stupid having sentimentality and emotion in a sitcom is with the episode where Jerry becomes more emotional and empathetic and the other main characters are weirded out by it. They even turn Elaine nearly getting raped and murdered by Crazy Joe into a comedic, though suspenseful, incident.
I agree that the finale was perfect and anyone who has a problem with it clearly missed the point of the show and didn't understand the characters at all.

Oh yes, that's another good point. The characters were selfish idiots and assholes, and they never tried to change it. George was the same from the beginning to the end. Kramer still got into the same bullshit allthroughout, never getting a REAL job. Elaine remained kindof a bitch. Jerry was the most likeable character, but he still let his character flaws get in the way of everything.
It doesn't sound like I'm talking positive about the show, but this is the reason why it remained good. In an era of shitty TV sitcoms trying to replicate the feelgoodness of the nuclear era, this show said 'fuck that'
Wait till the show gets meta, where the main character is pitching and producing a sitcom exactly like what you are watching, and why it never goes anywhere, in part citing the reason why a lot of people don't get why Seinfeld was a success.

Started watching it a couple months back and it's honestly one of my favourite sit-coms.
I really wish it'd gotten big over here instead of Friends.
