It's like learning the basics from an instructor at a trade school, then going out and serving as the individual apprentice to a master to perfect your trade. You're still trained by that original instructor, so Obi Wan isn't wrong, just not mentioning unneeded information.

Yoda was supposed to be someone who jedi went to be trained by in the OT. They retconned that and decided that a 3 foot tall stuffed animal was a jedi master

It's shown that Yoda trains all the younglings with lightsabers. He probably does a lot more. It's kind of a shame we didn't get to learn more about the Jedi training process. Sure woulda been more interesting than trade disputes in the senate.
