Bucky's metal arm is stronger than his and Cap's normal arms.
The Iron Man armor isn't invulnerable, Thor crushed it easily. I think it's reasonable that pissed off Bucky using his super arm could do some damage.
You also don't seem to understand the fundamental difference between an explosion and force applied over a much small surface area, like when Bucky is attacking the arc reactor.

Sometimes it's purely CGI (flight scenes, some action) but they usually keep him on set to interact with other actors. He wears clothes with those tracking patterns and usually has iron man shoulders and/or a helmet with the face plate removed.
