It fits with the prequels theme of fucking up badly. While George wanted a lot of things in the prequels to mirror the originals, some things were to be reversed like an inverted poem. The most noticeable example of this is the prequels themselves. While the OT were highly praised and loved, the prequels were despised for their many faults.

Man, Tartakovsky's Clone Wars cartoon is so much better than anything Lucas did in relation to the prequels, its ridiculous. The CGI series as well for the most part. It actually makes you care about what's happening on screen and be exited about it at points.
