Jessica's never bothered to get good at fighting because she uses her strength as a crutch. Kara was doing the same thing in Supergirl. In both cases, their "normal" adoptive sisters were able to throw them to the ground like they were dolls because they trained.

You all make good points. The action was far and away better written / shot on DD, but the characters were light-years better in JJ. Matt's sidekick is entirely worthless and has no character arc, he's there to be a sounding board and later flirt with the secretary. At least Trish is interesting and has her own character arc, and that's before you learn her MCU tie-in (Hellcat).
I didn't like the way JJ was photographed, directed, or choreographed, but the writing was strong enough that maybe they can hire some better directors for next season, Meanwhile, the guy who created the DD TV show quit after three episodes, so that one's headed to the shitter.
