Have you seen ep 7? It's me or there is something strange in the editing? For example when Cornelia talks with the guy on the dock, it's like if they forgot the counter shot. Also the slowmo scene with the dance felt bad edited and strange, and there are other weird moment of forced silence between the dialogues that were awkward.
It's me being an autist and nitpicking or you noticed that too?

I just get the impression that Soderbergh wants the audience to focus on the dock officials expressions. Soderbergh often edits the dialogues this way, where focus is more on the reaction to what is being said or vice versa on the person talking.
But I will admit that I didn't see any reason to edit it that way in that particular scene.

Actually on second thought I retract that. When there is focus on the dock official it's because we are meant to get the vibe that something shady is going on (and there is). We don't need to see Cornelia's reaction to this, we only need to see what she sees. Which is his slightly weird behavior.

The whole show is filled with moments designed to make you feel uncomfortable, unnatural silences are realistic and often say more than dialogue, and the editing and music during the dance scene was used to reinforce the main themes of the show.

Also when it finally does focus on Neely's face it's that much more powerful as she must have been trying desperately to maintain a brave front throughout the whole conversation while her world is being shattered. You hear the information she does and are dying to find out her reaction to it, and when you do finally see her face it's heartbreaking.
