A scene takes longer to film than it does to watch. One scene can take several days and the light can change a bit each day depending on cloud cover, smog, etc. so filters are often used, in part, to make the lighting situation uniform for a scene.
Filters are used for other reasons too but please don't be an idiot. Just cause the movie took 2 hours to watch doesn't mean it took 2 hours to film and there is this thing outside called 'weather' and it can change day to day.
Yeah blame videogames even though movies have used filters for decades.
