It was like someone dropped a tumblr shipper into the show's world and she started trying to turn her taboo OTP into reality.
I'm really glad that Dexter will come back, the ending was one of the best endings I've ever seen, absolutely perfect and fit the character well, I feel there's a little more to tell about him, the last two seasons were real 9/10, I don't know any other show that increasingly became better and better with each season.

I feel bad spoiling the ending because it's robbing you of such a collossal trainwreck. Everything about the last two seasons is an unmitigated disaster, and I feel it would be unfair to rob you of such disappointment.
That said...the bigbad shoots deb and puts her in hospital before getting away then deb looks like she's going to be fine then some other shit happens and deb gets way worse and goes into a coma and I think it's implied the bigbad poisoned her or something then dexter kills the bigbad in a police interrogation room with a pen and batista and quinn just shrug it off like whatever who cares you murdered this guy he was a dick then there's a big storm and dexter unplugs his sister who's on life support and drives his boat directly into the storm and drops deb's body and somehow that serial killer that dex loves for no reason ends up in south america with his kid and then he's a lumberjack cut to credits.

Especially considering this was the follow up to season 2 where he already got burned for trying to trust someone
On second viewing I preferred it more but it's still the weakest of the first 4

Season 1: Excellent. Creative premise, well structured and well paced, Dexter and Brain both compelling as fuck.
2: Also excellent. Watching Dexter slowly unhinge was amazing. Great performances, great pacing, compelling characters (I didn't see anything wrong with Lila).
3: Pretty good. The great inner monologues were as fresh as ever, Miguel was excellently performed, interesting story.
4: Pretty damn great. Trinity was superb, Dexter remained interesting, well paced.
5: Crap. Started promising but introduced the un-interesting Lumen and then un-interesting villain after villain. Writing felt much poorer.
6: Solidified vomit. Lame, predictable twist, lame villain/s. Dexter, as a character, was widdled down to a nub of clichés, redundant dialogue and inner monologues and super hero antics. No tension.
7. Okay/Good. An improvement. Good to finally see some actual things of major consequence happen, Isaac was really compelling and while it still had some amazingly poor writing and other ridiculous crap, it atleast did enough with the character of Dexter and Deb to make it watchable.
8. The worst thing ever. You have seven seasons of lies, murders, close calls and betrayals to work with and a whole cast of characters who have yet to learn Dexter's secret and you waste our time with inane subplots about Quinn trying to make Sergeant and Masuka having a daughter.
