Despite Noir, specifically Noir Detective / Private Investigator being such a huge cliche, it occurs to me that there haven't been that many movies or TV series with that particular style, if at all any in the last 15 or so years. The only one I can remember is Sin City 1 and 2 (which I disliked for the over the top gratuitous violence and stupidity) and Road to Perdition which was amazing, though not about the Detective Angle.

So what is there out there? I have no problem going back 50 or even more years. I'm just looking for some decent detective movies to watch.

Season 1 was pretty decent. Season 2 was terrible.

It was not a cliche, the fact is that people didn't have nothing better to make histories about without being someone had being robbed or shot. It was the 40's.
Now everything is CGI.

Bogart's noirs are absolutely essential. Look at the 40s and 50s in general, that was the golden age.

People these days seem to think of noir as some kind of hyper stylized aesthetic, which it really wasn't, so you might not like those old movies

Those are what got me into the theme. My dad used to watch them with me as a kid.

Chinatown, The Big Sleep, The Long Goodbye and L.A Confidential are all pretty solid if you haven't seen them yet.
