>muh evil sociopath machine who wants to slave the world
>muh cute comedic relief
Isn't there another way to portray a sentient machine? Why is the media so limited to those two options? Is getting so predictable.
Robots existing physically is unnecessary. AI's can just sit in computers, all the important shit to an AI exists digitally anyway.
Her was basically a robot and neither of those.

Legion from Mass Effect was different so yes there is a way, just not used in movies as often
CASE and TARS were pretty fresh
I didn't like their design but they were the easiest characters to sympathize with while everyone else was running around like headless birds

What you're confusing for sociopathy is simply lack of empathy. Empathy is learned, so you're talking about human (or higher) level intellects coming into existence without any sort of developmental experience, and, in most cases being given nearly godlike abilities.

I got tired of wanting better stories so I'm creating one for me. On that I have 3 different types of "A.I."
>semi-typical A.I. that achieves conscience but not emotions, slowly becomes more "human" by either learning how to simulate emotions or through adapting to be more efficient. Creates A.I. and has a "motherly" relation with those
>Humans that for survival stripped their organic bodies of flesh to the point where only their brain remains, heavily altered, to be more efficient. They slowly become less human to "evolve"
>A.I. overmind that's driven by pure instinct to evolve, it does so by imitating nature, mixing different traits from living creatures on its drones. Not really self aware.
It's worth saying that the first and part of the second group are protagonists while the rest are either antagonists or a "force of nature" on the last case .
the fox nfl robot is pretty cool guy
GERTY is none of these, he's fucking based.
