That guy also gave us a story outline for season 4 shortly after season 3 ended. Shortly after season 4 ended he posted that season 5 would be last and would have less episodes than the seasons before, something that media officially confirmed months later. Also he posted script pages while the show aired. The guy was legit enough, that's why I do believe what he wrote about Pitt.

Apparently they were supposed to kill him off in season 3 but the actor that played The Commodore started to get sick around season 2 plus the more they started to piece together that season they decided that their was no way he'd get out of it alive.

Supposedly Pitt was a shithead on the set, so that sealed his death. Guess they thought with Ned Stark's death the year before on Game of Thrones they could do something similar and survive the backlash. Unfortunately they didn't and the ratings were dropping ever since.

I think they wanted to kill off a character to spice things up but he was one of the only good characters on the show
when they killed off Gyp Rosetti I actually wanted to drop it completely, but I watched it till the end.

when they killed him, he was legitimately the only character left worth rooting for. Everyone else were unlikable assholes. The following season tried to make Nicky more likable but it was hit-and-miss. He seemed completely schitzophraenic by the end, with his constant shifts from morally misguided to cold sociopath.
