Was it a good ending, or a shitty one?
>>63108326
It was funny in a dark way. The dude literally killed everyone who he loved believing that he was doing them all a favor only to find out seconds later that he didn't need to do it.
It definitely wasn't a bad ending, that's for sure.
>>63108326
It felt cheap to me. A twist like that is fine at the end of a twilight zone episode when I only have 30 minutes invested in it, but at the end of a long harrowing movie just makes me feel like I wasted my time watching it.
>>63108326
Both, he let go of hope and let down the people who trusted him at the very last moment, help was already coming, now he has to live with the guilt of letting go of that sliver of hope that he should've held on to, now he lost his family and what he does with that pain is up to him.
King's stories never have such thing as a bad ending
>>63108326
it was depressing for the sake of being depressing.
somethings i see are so utterly pathetic that i just laugh at the filmmakers.
then the people i'm watching the movies look at me like i'm insane for laughing at a guy killing his kid and then finding out he didn't need to.
> no man, i wasn't laughing at the guy, i'm laughing at how over-the-top the story is
You got what thending was trying to do, but it came across as comical.
>ha-ha dumbass crazy zealot lady was right
>>63108326
>carol looking him down
damn son
>>63108365
>makes me feel like I wasted my time watching it
there it is right there.
It was the right ending.
>>63108404
How edgy
>>63108326
Movie's pretty shit. The Blob remake is better. The townies aren't retards, you get more monster stuff and the ending isn't edge for the sake of edge.
SOMEBODY
>>63108377
God damn it, Carol.
It was better than the book's ending, that's for damn sure.
>>63108390
The ending of the book is different
>>63108390
but isn't the ending in the movie completely different from the ending in the book?
>>63108590
Damn, the Punishers origin story is a Stephen king novel. God.Damn.
>>63108390
>the dark tower
>>63108404
This seems like the kind of ending that would get changed because of some dopey test audience. I'm glad it didn't.

What is the ending of the book?

the guy ends uphttp://epicbrainfreeze.ytmnd.com
>>63109028
not sure exactly, I just remember some anon talking about how the book ending wasn't as "dark" as the movie ending in a thread awhile back.
it was a good ending
Anyone noticed that trough the movie the religious bitch keeps bitching about how they need a blood sacrifice from the kid to make everything alright again, and then they refuse and run out of the store.
Moments later, the protagonist kills his son, and then, everything turns back to normal
TL;DR: Religious bitch was right all along
>>63108404
>it was depressing for the sake of being depressing.
thats the fucking happy ending
the original plan just ended after they all killed themselves
>>63109139
Oh shit.
I like this idea of it being a more supernatural threat than what was put forward.
That said I like the ending. Horror movies should have dark endings.
>>63108449
Absolutely. The people that hate that ending have shit taste.
>>63108680
this is what ruined it. It would have been shitty, but maybe kind of ok in a depressing way compared to just "they drive off to an uncertain future"
But then this fucking dumb cunt shows up and we're supposed to believe she wandered off alone through some fucking nightmare zone where you can't see shit and there's tentacle rape preying mantis lobster fucking things just lurking around and she fucking finds her kids AND THE ARMY completely unharmed? Go fuck yourself
>>63108680
that was the lamest thing about the ending
>>63109207
If you like fucked up endings, try watching "In the mouth of Madness" anon, made by John Carpenter, with Sam Neil
It's almost a B movie with Lovecraftian influence.
>>63109028
he leaves his diary at an abandoned restaurant and drives into the mist with the people
I could excuse everything else, but the army coming and killing everything takes a lot of horror and ominous uncertainty out of the monsters.
>>63109261
Thanks man, but I've already seen that movie. I love that shit.
The ending is great. In the Mouth of Madness is probably my second or third favorite Carpenter film
>>63108590
>Revenge movie
>"So Far Away" starts playing
>>63108760
>implying this was one of the few, if not the only good ending King has ever written
this is coming from a huge fan of Kings. i mean fuck, have you read Talisman? it's perfect.
It felt like it should have been a dvd extra alternate ending
>>63108390
They don't have endings period. Fucking hack.
>>63109366
His short stories had good endings generally, like The Jaunt and The Running Man. It's the novels you have to worry about.

The ending is god tier, it isn't about if his family would've survived or anything like that. It was about faith, the central theme of the film is secular ideologies against religious dogma. In the end bother were completely wrong but the ones who stayed with God still had faith that they would be ok. It was a pretty pro God movie, if you ask me.
Should've ended like Texnolyzewhere he sits in silence for who knows how long, awaiting his death and makes peace with himself and his actions.
What's the best twist ending in all of cinema?
