Well, I would agree with it coming full circle to the beginning [Silence], as it also plays off The Pandorica Opens, and that would be the point.
Since the shows reboot, the Doctors has many quite a few enemies and doesn't seem to check up on them in time [as explored in the Christmas Episode].
It feels like it's building to a climax where he will be forced into a corner.
The only issue I take with the Timelords being behind the Castle is: How.
Aren't they trapped? They have interacted solely through Painting or Space Time Cracks.

Damn I remember the night the Eleventh Hour aired, 11s new Sonic went up for order like immediately after the episode finished. I was able to go to Toysrus on Monday and buy one, I bet if 12 does get a new Sonic in the finale that won't happen.

It's not something I've developed into a theory, to be honest. It's more of a gut feeling. We know that Gallifrey is returning, and I don't think that Moffat would write the Time Lords in such a way that would make second to some other big bad.
I have no idea how the Time Lords could be behind the castle, but Doctor Who handwaves specific details away all the time. I think Moffat will probably explain it through a blink-and-you'll-miss-it line of dialogue, and we'll just accept it, because that's Doctor Who.
That said, though, Moffat does revisit tropes all the time. The Doctor's death, for example. So, who knows?
