Anyone with a strong enough willpower can get right past his shit. Dr. Doom for example. Hell, a fucking crippled USAgent got past Kilgrave's bullshit. But if he gets you when you're not expecting it or you're at a low point in your life and susceptible to emotional manipulation then you're fucked. He's conquered the Avengers for a short time and had them all beating up whomever attempted to stop him and generally being butlers and shit. I think he was using Captain America as a foot rest at one point and ordering various heroines to show him their tits. But that was because his powers at that point in time were amplified by some other faggot so it spread over a huge radius and shit.
Just saw episode 4 and it was one of the worst episodes of anything I've seen in a long time. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt and assume that's it's lowest point.
