My concern isn't that he's a bad director, it's that he's not a really good one. He hasn't really made any movies that I'd call bad except for Into Darkness, but nothing I've ever seen from him has really blown me away. He's about as run-of-the-mill as big budget movie directors come, and when you're putting something as monolithic as Star Wars into his lap I have to wonder just how good a job he could do. The movie does look good from everything I've seen, but I'm still worried that it's going to rely too much on nostalgia. There's a lot of recycled elements from the OT that are in this movie. The desert planet, the Death Star, the Vader, the Emperor, the Boba Fett, the runaway droid with important information, the wise old tiny alien mentor, the trench run, the seedy place full of weird aliens, it's all stuff that's been done already in the old movies. It feels to me like they're reinventing the wheel with TFA, but I could very well be wrong. I'll just be happy if it manages to trump the prequels, which isn't really a tall order.
