Wait, so the new meme is to dislike the hobbit now, and say "heh...yeah we know peter" in an attempt to sound intelligent?

Movie critics are the most insufferable people in existence
>>
>>63028248
the earlier movies work because they feel like they're going somewhere. but then when you watch Five Armies you realize that the place they were going was somewhere you've already been in a much cooler way. it retroactively damages the first two Hobbit films.

>It's bad because bitter people on the internet told me it's bad despite the fact the movie is considered a huge success in any other community

It's a meme. It's a good movie and nothing more than that. It's IMPOSSIBLE to make a "good" movie in 2015, because nothing is considered "good" anymore because everyone gets to feel like a movie-goer with a "refined palate" in cinema and say how bad it is on the internet, and how it just didn't "match your sophisticated tastes!"

I know this is /tv/, but this general climate of "I have to critique literally everything instead of just enjoying it" is getting beyond ridiculous. Criticize a movie when it deserves criticism, not to fulfill your smug sense of superiority.

Don't be such a salty shitter. Edge of tomorrow was a good movie and its about as shallow as they come. Quality has nothing to do with depth or sophistication, 5 armies was just bad and didn't live up to the standards set by the previous 2 films, which were both incidentally much worse than the LotR movies.

Go North. Find the Dunedain. There is a young Ranger amongst them, you should meet him. His father, Arathorn, was a good friend. His son may grow to be a great one. He is known in the wild as Strider. His true name... you must discover for yourself. Legolas! Your mother loved you :^)

There is a ranger among them, you should meet him, he's ten years old so he's still living in Rivendell. His father Arathorn was a big guy, for me, which you know already, his son may be a big guy, for you. He will be known in a little shitburg town you'll never visit as Strider, I'm not telling you his real name but it rhymes with Arathorn and he's the only ten year old human in Rivendell, probably. Legolas, your mother loved you, which of course you know because you spent thousands of years together and as we're empathic elves I don't think we're capable of not loving our children, but maybe in AD&D or Warhammer or something we'll look like assholes.

God. Anon, you don't know how happy it makes me to see this post. This is the first time I've seen another person saying the same thing I've been saying for ages. It's not even just movies now, it's absolutely everything.

Birdman, Fury Road, It Follows, Ex Machina, Sicario, Nightcrawler, etc, are all universally liked and there's almost no negative criticism. People dislike the Hobbit flicks because they're shit. You're just an idiot with no taste, and probably a woman.

Everything written in Spanish with taco crumbs laying about, yeah he ditched that, who wouldn't.
>put his ego in front of project
THE only way to lead a project. Ask Jim Cameron.

Oh, so it's a bad thing he wanted to do the final battle some justice?

Jackson gave it his all and it's the best we could have hoped to get.

Not in movie canon. All the relevant numbers and dates are given in the movie to conclude that movie Aragorn is.. I think it was 26 during the Hobbit.
Happens because Jackson left out the part where Frodo didn't give a shit about the Ring for 20 years before Gandalf comes back.

This. In the movie Frodo leaves the night of bilbos birthday but in the book he waits around for Gandalf to figure shit out.

Peter Jackson didn't WTF he was doing when he made Lord of the Rings...
>>
>>63032868
Yeah. Frodo gets knocked out and wakes up to everyone explaining what happened
>>
It's the studio's fault. They made him start production on the hobbit with only 1.5 years planning time. LOTR had nearly 10 years to plan.
>>
>>63026826
For how long will the jews keep getting away with this ?
>>
The Hobbit books is simplistic version of events from the POV of Bilbo and was never strong enough for three films
They should've made 2 films from that and one film set between Hobbit and LOTR, featuring Gollum's search and the rise of Sauron/fall of Saruman and Bilbo adopting Frodo and slowly deteriorating
>>
Reminder that the Jews claim The Lord of the Rings films made zero dollars of profit thereby screwing the Tolkien estate of the money owed to them.

I could totally buy a semi-reboot with new younger actors. I'd love to have a movie that's less about gigantic battles and epic scales of war and doom and more about character conflicts and growth.

This so much. Movies don't need a threat of planetary destruction every single time. If they pulled everything back to the first LOTR I'd happily go see this movie.
>>
>>63036342
That's because they tried stretching it to maximize profits. Have you even read Silmarillion? It's not something you'd ever read if it wasn't stuck to a hugely popular series. It's just worldbuilding.
>>
>>63036330
>Useless Mary Sue
When handled by Peter Jackson? Sure.
>>
>>63036498
This. It isn't a simple narrative like the Hobbit or LotR. It can't be made into a movie. Each tale would need to be its own individual film. I can only see the Silmarillion as an anthology series.
>>
>>63036498
Oh Ive read it alright.
