Capeshit is not your typical genre, capeshit can monopolize and occupy damn near ANY genre, even Westerns....
As long as these studios do this smart the genre really has no ceiling.
From what I can see Feige's plan for the end of phase 3 is to be the birth of the MCU not the end of it. Because at that point you can tell random stories that don't lead to anything in a cinematic universe with over a decade of real history.

First, they don't know how to make villains. Fuck, half the origin movies for their superheroes have them facing a palette swapped version of themselves. The villains are almost always killed at the end of the movie, ruining any chance of development for them. They never have an interesting motive either.
Second, it's the clean, happy entertainment image and CGI. They just wail on each other without signs of damage or blood anywhere but the ocassional mouth drip. Hell, most of the time, there isn't even a smudge on their spandex.
