How the fuck do you grow apart after surviving an island full of dinosurs together? I like to imagine Alan having super intense Raptor PTSD that drove Ellie away. On multiple occasions, Alan tried to strangle that parrot in the dead of night in fits of rage. JP3 supports this theory.
>>

Man I would pay to see that

>How the fuck do you grow apart after surviving an island full of dinosurs together?

people change with age, sometimes drastically. you aren't the same person you were 10 years ago, or even 5 (depending on the person)

i don't think most people are compatible together all of their lives. it's better to split when you realize, rather than hang on for nostalgia/loneliness, and then end up resenting each other

I have nice memories of JP3 for some reason. It was the last Hollywood blockbuster whose marketing I really bought into. Every time I saw a tv spot, I got hyped as shit and bought the majority of the toys. And say what you will, JP3 looked gorgeous.

That argument is complete bull. The book and movie are so damn different (like, 55-60% different) that they have to stand on their own and it's implied they do their own things
>>
>>
>Sattler has a minor role in Jurassic Park III. According to the film, her relationship with Dr. Grant ended after the first film, but they remain close friends. She is married to Mark, an attorney for the U.S. State Department who specializes in treaty law. They live in Washington, D.C. with their two children and host Alan for dinner. Later, when he is stranded on Isla Sorna, it is Ellie who Grant calls for help. She tells her husband, who sends in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marines to rescue them.

This is the worst possible kind of kekolding. Not only is Mark fucking his woman, but now he owes Mark his life.
>>
>>62964520
I don't remember her having a fiance in the first book.
>>
>>62964461
JP3 is indeed a vile piece of shit, but I personally thought it was visually stunning. Every scene was bustling with scenery and it was all built indoors, trees, plants, everything. It's kind of a testament to the wonders you can achieve on film. The only thing filmed outdoors was the river scene (on the Universal backlot), maybe the lab scenes, and for sure the scenes in open areas or off the island.
>>
>>62964645
It was mentioned m8. Also, Grant was way older, and I think she was still in college.

>>62964602
You're gay.
>>
>>62964520
It's the manner of telling Alan and the audience what the status of their relationship is.With a fiancee at worst they can have wild passionate affairs, at best leave the bf for Alan. But look at that scene. Check out the blocking, Alan hunched over, Ellie creeping from behind like a raptor, carrying another man's baby payload. It's a fucking efficiently brutal way of saying ITS OVER FOR US.
>>
>>62964599
>establishing Rogue's powers
>introducing Wolverine with the cage match and the car crash

That's all I remember and it wasn't horrible.

The whole "Stay away from my girl" scene was worse, especially when Cyclops was your favorite X-man.
>>
>>62961421
I always got the vibe that they still hooked up and fucked on the side.
The husband seemed especially uncomfortable with Grant around the house, also why would Grant have any interest in trying to teach another man's son about dinosaurs? He obviously wanted to impart some knowledge onto his afffair baby.

>>
>>62965095
Yeah, it was discomforting to say the least.
The biggest problem with production was Warner Bros approaching Bryan Singer to direct Superman Returns in the first place.

Singer had plans for how the Dark Phoenix arc would work, and it sounded pretty amazing. Basically it was gonna open with cities getting leveled by an invisible force that even Xavier couldn't figure out, and the X-Men had to find out what was going on amidst the pandemonium of an end of the world scenario.
>>
>>62964692

>also why would Grant have any interest in trying to teach another man's son about dinosaurs?

>>62965697
Not really. Depressing would be if she was like 'fuck you, I moved on, go away. You were better off staying dead. Stay away from my family' etc etc
Her reaction to him being alive was perfect. Their final moments together were brilliantly done, and Hanks' showing that letting her go was the hardest thing he had to do in the past 4 years was perfect. Somber, yea, but not depressing.

There was this movie where a soldier goes to war (or something akin to that) and his plane gets shot down and everyone thinks he's dead but he really is the only survivor. Anyway, he gets kidnapped by the terrorists and they torture him and when he escapes, he wanders the desert for a year before he finally finds a way to get home and his wife has been sleeping around and he kills himself.

That doesn't imply anything about them ending their relationship or Alan not wanting kids. Based of the context of whats happened through the entire movie's, it should be implied he embraced the idea of being a father, and appreciating kids.

Spielberg doesn't get that deep into shit like you're trying to claim. That and no one attached to the film has said anything ever about that being the intended implication you should take from that scene.

>>
>>62966858
>Spielberg doesn't get that deep into shit like you're trying to claim.

This. Spielberg was never that into symbolism.
Prime example is what he told Josh Brolin during Goonies. Brolin was saying that he was gonna crawl out of a tunnel with the concept of rebirth in mind, like he was crawling out of a womb, being born again with a more opened mind, etc.
Spielberg told him to try crawling out of a tunnel with getting the fuck out of a tunnel in mind.

Looking for symbolism in a Spielberg movie is like trying to find hidden meanings in a Bob Ross painting. You're missing the entire point.

>>

>liking the first half of TLW:JP

The whole movie is pretty shit.

JP3 is almost a good movie. I would cleaned it up by, not killing off the henchmen so early. Having Kirby actually have had money, but used it all up to try and save his son, so grant isn't being paid because Kirby tried and failed to bribe the costa rican government.

Also the step-dad, I'd have had him alive on the island, but with a broken leg. He could have been a survival expert that was teaching the kid and helping him survive, but with a bum leg had to hide in the tanker. Would have been another body to kill off.

Biggest problems with JP2 and 3 is the way they handle death. The Death count in JP1 is really low, like.... what... 5? ? They spaced it out well too. 1 in the opener, 2 in the middle and 2 near or in the 3rd act.

JP2 had too many mindless goons to kill off, Trembo was amazing, but it doesn't save the film. JP3 all deaths are in the first 2 acts, none in act 3.

Suspense people, that's what made JP1 so god damn good, Speilberg didn't know it cause it's not his thing, he kind of lucked out.

No...no no no no.....
No...

Singer had pretty good relations with Fox they knew he was going to do Superman and he was interested in doing x-men 3. X3 would have been a 2007 release though, Fox didn't want to wait and moved forward with the project.

Cyclops was going to be killed off inbetween 2 and 3. Marsden was filming in australia and fox said "fuck it, kill him off screen" and Ratner really thought that was sour, and Ratner did the one thing he is good at and made the filming of a few scenes with Marsden work for their filming schedule and Marsdens schedule. So they got to kill him off in the movie.

It's so crushing as a cyclops fan. I mean, recast the role? Idk.... something? Cyclops and jean were going to be the focus in singers x-men 3 with wolverine as a supporting.

I used to think Singer was insane to want Sigourney Weaver as Emma Frost, till I realized it was meant to be a villain and sort of tease for prof X to fight, in some weird psychic battle, which has gotten dropped from every x-men movie that planned to have one so far.

Fox rushed x-men 3, hopefully they learned from their mistake..... hopefully.

Tintin is follows the tone of the comics closely. Spielberg had been a fan of Tintin for decades, even partially basing Indiana Jones on his adventures, and you can really tell that Spielberg worked on getting it right, even if it's at a bit of a breakneck pace.
Bridge of Spies is just a good cold war drama that makes great use of Tom Hanks. I feel that he doesn't have too much longer to make movies and decided to double his efforts. I'm really looking forward to his take on BFG. I loved that book when I was a kid.
>>
>>62967058
It helps in some cases like The Goonies.

But when you're trying to make something that features more than chases and silly characters, it helps to have that artsy fartsy attitude.
>>
It wasn't exactly soul crushing, but the end of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. I thought he had changed and then...that suitcase by the side of the road.
>>
>>62967359
I remember hearing that Singer was collaborating with some peeps at Marvel to turn his planned ideas for X-men 3 into a graphic novel or comic run in a what if, spinoff alternate take world. I dont the project ever lifted off.

ANyone know any details about such a thing?

Nothing came out of that, and nothing ever will now that they're busy shunting off the X-Men to their own little thing since they don't have the films rights.

Although now that Marvel Studios is completely overseen by Feige, and Perlman fucking hates Feige for going behind his back to Disney to set that up, I'm expecting Perlman to try to push X-Men again as a fuck you to Disney. That nigga is the pettiest motherfucker that ever lived

>Fox rushed x-men 3, hopefully they learned from their mistake..... hopefully.

But they didn't and that's public knowledge. They made X-Men Origins: Wolverine after X3. And then they almost ruined First Class with hurrying it into production, Matthew Vaughn and the actors and crew saved that film even though it is obvious from the final film that they didn't have time to figure out certain things (lot of the effects for example are not good).

>Spielberg had been a fan of Tintin for decades, even partially basing Indiana Jones on his adventures, and you can really tell that Spielberg worked on getting it right, even if it's at a bit of a breakneck pace.

Partially correct, he became aware of Tintin when he did Indiana Jones, bunch of european critics kept comparing the film to Tintin and he found out the comics then and fell in love with them.

One of the things to take away from this movie is that you can't have anyone you want and sometimes it doesn't work out for you especially if you're an ugly autistic mongrel who talks to statues in a belfry. More animated Disney movies need to keep this shit in mind.

Spielberg films are full of contradictions, evocation and allegory.

Do you think it's a happy coincidence the opening of War of the Worlds is pointed at the hole where the WTC used to be? The rest of the film makes a stubborn point of avoiding featuring American landmarks.

Rewatched it recently, it's not so good yet not so bad, the movie biggest sin is that there's no real climax, meaning that the whoel thing ends with a long fart. If you dig up a bit you realize that they planned to end things with a pack of velocipraptos killing the spinosaurus for the finale but was cut out because of budget/planning restrictions. How awesome would this have been?

They should have just let Billy die for his arrogance. The entire movie is asspull after asspull, that being one of the bigger ones. There is no lesson at all to be taken away from it. The first movie was obviously don't play god and create a dinosaur park. What's the lesson here? Don't trust a shady, broke family to pay you to rescue their son but its okay because we'll find him anyway and all be friends and the girl from the first movie will save us at the last second.

I'm going to go with what IMDB says is most likely true.
"Promise me, that the next thing you do, is go up to that man and tell him the truth. Ok?"
Because if that video is correct, that ruins it. I think the kiss is bad enough, but it's still just a fleeting connection.

I saw JP3 in the cinema and there was a guy at the back MC'ing at the back trying to get people to clap and sing and dance. It was his loud voice alone over a silent crowd of people watching dinosaurs. It took security 20 minutes to do anything. It was pretty funny and more memorable than the film.
