It's a meme movie
As a film overall it was just okay. Some aspects have been done better on other movies.
But since Film is art we have to take account its societal and cultural impact. In that matter it's been turned into a symbol of rebellion against the "man" by the masses.

Comic book is pretty cool. Movie is more like F for Fedora. V is rewritten as a 14 year olds idea of a badass. He's pretty much the "-Nihilistic, with a wicked sense of humour" type persons fantasy. I liked the story better when it was an insane anarchist against 1984.
