B movies from the 80s

bump
My girlfriend's grandfather was the cinematographer on this and other b-movies. This was used for one of original MST3K episodes.

Good movie, Ive seen it a bunch of times since I saw it as a kid
Robot Jox
I wish stop motion giant robot movies would have been a trend in the 80 after Robot Jox
I watched this yesterday. Pretty good, but the ending was odd and unsatisfying and seemed to not fit the movie.. I looked it up and found out the producer fucked it up, and also found the original ending on youtube.. which was better if a little boring in comparison.
I also found out that Roger Ebert hated it... I'm glad he's dead.
I love this movie. Almost no one saw it for the satire it was when it first came out. The director was forced to turn his movie into a "women in prison" genre, so he intentionally decided to make it as ridiculous as possible. A thirty year old Wendy O Williams playing the bad girl teenager? check. Pat Ast hamming it up as a Nurse Rached type? check. Hiring Sybil Danning for your women in prison film and making her the only woman that doesnt get naked? check and check.

looks good as fuck
We should do our own MST3K.
Is anyone else funny?

>download Xtro via torrent
>it's uploaded by one of the people who were making that movie, a writer/producer I think
>he completely trashes the movie in the note that came with the torrent
I remember seeing the trailer years ago and it made the movie look like the spookiest thing ever. The movie was alright I guess.
There are also two sequels that have absolutely nothing to do with the first movie. Xtro 2 is a blatant Alien ripoff.
This scene spooked the shit out of me:

Why did they reference "A fish called Wanda" over Halloween.....
Alien ripoff, and not a good one. I still kinda enjoyed watching this, the alien looks like angry black dolphin.
>>62933454
Galaxy of Terror kicks ass.
>>62937968
Probably because it was more recent than Halloween. (?)
Anyone else think 80s B-Movies are better than modern blockbusters ? They seem to have better pacing and doesn't rely on cgi to fix everything
Why can't B movies today use practical effects? How can it be more expensive?
>>62938352
This movie kicks ass.
>>62934554
Is that Bill the Butcher on the cover ?
Holy shit the artwork for these video covers looks great. Why the hell did we stop using these for horribly photoshopped crap?
>>62938553
I've seen this one and it's pretty good. The special effects and locations are nice, and the monster designs are original as well.
>>62938571
That looks so cool
>>62938439
Fuck, I remember that VHS cover.
>>62938534
I have to agree. The artwork is great and I much prefer it to a photo of a couple of actors just standing there, telling me nothing about the film whatsoever.
>>62938624
This movie genuinely freaked me out, and I saw this for the first time last year.
>that alien rape scene
>that ending
I remember my local video store had a "Must be 21 years old" sticker on this.
>>62934554
Eugene Shalit is the murderer?
>All these great arcade style fonts
>horror illustrations in oil paint
>bizarre monsters
I think trips to the video store probably resulted in the nightmares I got as a kid.
>>62938404
The woman looks like a dildo in the thumbnail
>>62938535
The sillyness of the title and it's catchphrase blew me away
>>62943222
Mugglers beware!
>>62938404
Is this a decent zombie movie?
My favorite of all the Linda Blair B movies in the 80's.
>>62933454
Where the fuck is the "college of love", and why don't they allow freshmen in? How would a university even function at that point? How did the 80s get away with being total none sense?
>>62933598
>My girlfriend
How big is her penis?
>>62938418
>movie posters will never ever look this great again
>>62944056
Just think: that was some bullshit B-Movie in its time yet its cover art is so much more evocative than anything we get from major blockbusters today.
>bare titties and gore and great monster designs everywhere
What the fuck happened to movies since then?
When did showing tits and bush become so fucking taboo?
>>62938683
X-Tro II is actually a decent Alien rip-off.
>>62938268
> dat chrome font
That needs to come back right now.
>>62944174
Movie covers used to get me pretty fucking hyped when I was younger.
Sure, the artwork of the monsters wasn't always accurate with what you saw in the movie, but you knew you were still guaranteed to see some fucked up shit.
I used to think that the people who made monster movies were in some secret competition to make the scariest, most fucked up looking monster.
>>62938251
The pacing is better because of analog.
They had to plan out everything and then shoot or risk wasting thousands in film.
Now with digital the shoot crazy.
>>62944412
I wouldn't be surprised if there was at least an undercurrent of competition. Makes me think of the evolution of punk rock and heavy metal - bands always pushing the edge and new sounds and subgenres being created along the way. I can see all these different movie makers watching each other's movies and trying to top each other with monsters, gore, sex, etc. All of them competing for your dollar at the theater and the rental.
>>62944412
Watch Rewind This. It goes over some of the history of Horror covers -- and VHS covers, in general.
>>62944676
> Restriction breeds creativity.
>>62938518
Holy fucking shit, that's a fucking 10/10 cover.
>>62939796
>the special effects are fantastic
Somehow I think this one might be a lie.
thinly veiled RLM thread?
post rare Jessi's
>>62933454
Linnea Quigley a cute.
>>62938571
>Crocodile people
>Half naked woman
Looks baller as fuck.
Man, half this shit is gonna be a bitch to find.
>>62944872
I like RLM and BOTW but people have been into VHS covert art and the movies from that time much longer than there's been a RLM/BOTW.
Here's a whole gallery as well as brief histories of the various companies of the VHS Golden Age.
>>62944995
Well goddammit.

It's on youtube, lad. Most of the shit in this thread is.

'my concentration was broken, along with 3 of my ribs'
movie rocked!
>>62944229
Since buyfags are mostly children and streaming is becoming more commonplace and doesn´t make as much as other distributions ways.
>>62943522
have that movie on dvd
>>62945048
>YouTube
Sometimes I forget that exists.
Roadhouse is my favorite movie.
extend to early nineties please
Super Gun Lady
