My biggest problems with Chronicles stem from how totally dissonant with the tone of the universe the Necromongers are (the tone is set as an Alien-style space-is-hell movie full of space truckers, bounty hunters, death planet prisons and gritty worn-down practical technology then some Warhammer 40k death cult shows up in floating Roman statues), and the fact that Riddick went from being a mysterious 'Man With No Name' everyman figure to 'chosen-one last hero of a dead race'.
I'd have liked the entire film to focus on the prison planet, honestly. It felt like they tried to do way too much in one movie's running time and within their limited budget.
