To be honest I never really thought of Luke's costume in Jedi implying that he was straddling the dark side. Certainly the costume colors had that sort of direct meaning in the earlier films, but to me it always reminded me of a priest's outfit. Black is a zen color, the simple, non-ostentatious outfit made me think he was trying to focus his emotions and clear out distracting thoughts, like an ascetic monk. It was very meditative, and perhaps indicative that Luke was trying to be more like Obi-Wan in mental state though not quite there yet.

Its the contrast between Anakin and Luke's journey and how they deal with similar situations completely differently because of the people around them.
Anakin had no one. He fell in love with PAdme at a yound age and then was restricted by the jedi code until his teenage years when his hormones were even worse. He never had people around him that challenged him as a person to grow. Only thing he had was old jedi masters who were barking orders and gave "wise" comments about restraint and being a good boy lapdog.
Luke on the other hand grew up as a normal boy, he had people around him who challenged him to grow emotionally. His friends always had his back. To the point where Luke simply DEFIED even Yoda to make his own way.
